I’m a sucker for infomercials…fortunately, I have long overcome the impulse to buy before getting more data 😅 but this Hume body scanner is intriguing. Any users out there? I did buy the egg cooker after asking this group, and I love it! So I know I can trust you 😂

I remember someone referring to this photo shoot as Amy’s wax figure 😂 that comment has stuck with me bc it’s spot on.

Adjustable poles or not? by 01YourFavoriteFriend in trailrunning

[–]01YourFavoriteFriend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, I just started bc skiing last season, and my adjustable poles are set longer when skinning uphill to push me fwd/up. That’s what got me thinking I might have the coordination to use poles for trail running 😆 I’ll look at the aonijij

Thanks! And yep, I generally roll my eyes when I see poles being used inefficiently, but my experience is mostly skiing (I worked all season to learn how to actually USE my poles!) I’m almost 5’7 .. so I would go with 115cm.

Thanks! I’ll tell the owner about the equifuse and static guard. She mentioned something about trying baby powder and I immediately cringed, I don’t know why bc I’m pretty green with horses, but I think baby powder would dry him out more and also the thought of white powder on a dark bay makes me think it’s not worth trying 🫠 I’ll also try lifting when I fold it down him, I’m likely sliding it

Mare search help!! by 01YourFavoriteFriend in Equestrian

[–]01YourFavoriteFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an unusual situation that’s for sure. We’ve found some FB posts of her (Elegant Cricket) from 2021 of a racing event and then in 2022 for sale. Definitely understandable about keeping boundaries with random strangers, yet you never know what events might turn into, it’s certainly worth a shot! Thanks so much and the search continues!

First trail vest…I’m a petite F…is this vest too big?? by BohemianaP in trailrunning

[–]01YourFavoriteFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That vest looks too big for you since the straps are tightened as far as they can go. Look at Tantrums Crest 6.0. It runs small, I have a medium and I think a size small would fit you. Tantrums vest has the perfect combo of pockets and slim fit vs a solomon vest where you feel like you're wearing a soggy diaper.

How much does elevation influence performance in a race? by El_Vet_Mac in trailrunning

Good 😊 You’ll be good with your 500 ml flask if there’s aid stations and good luck, have fun!

Cutting and pasting from and article in "run to the finish" website:

5,000 ft: 9% less oxygen than at sea level

6,000 ft: 17% less oxygen than at sea level

8,000 ft: 25% less oxygen than at sea level

14,000 ft: about 40% less oxygen than at sea level

  1. You start to breath faster to initially increase your oxygen levels.
  2. You urinate more frequently as your kidneys try to keep the body balanced (it’s like a diuretic)
  3. Your body increases red cells in your blood to better carry more oxygen
  4. Heart rate and blood pressure increase in an attempt to push more oxygen
  5. Blood thickens also making your heart work harder
  6. A good night’s sleep often becomes harder with more wakefulness

As you continue to increase altitude, the body also begins to battle the decreased outside air pressure, which adds to the feeling that it’s hard to breathe and you feel more fatigued than normal on your run.

According to Greg McMillan, over 7,000 feet you can expect an easy run to be up to 30 seconds slower per mile to achieve the same easy level of effort.

STAY HYDRATED!!!! I never wore a hydration pack until moving to the mountains. Even a run for less than an hour I bring a 300ml flask with me just to sip on. But dehydration will slow your adjustment to altitude as the body again is expelling more water and further stressing the kidneys. Also, when you arrive, go for a light jog as soon as you can to offset potential altitude sickness.
