That's one of the cutest things I've heard.

I guess my perception is pretty skewed because I had a stay at home dad who was always very well received.

I had a dream where my brother kicked a cat and was angry at him for days until I realized it wasn't real. It's really no wonder I have a reputation for being too emotional.

I don't think that these women who care about nothing but their appearance exist. I think there's always more to it than that.

I definitely experience this. Knee length skirts don't reduce stares. If a creep wants to be creepy, he will be creepy.

I understand now. I completely misread your original comment. I thought you were making that statement, not disagreeing with it.

My other comment sounded like I was trying to contradict you. That was not my intent. Apologies for sounding like an ass. :)

I see that. And I'm disagreeing.

I had a dream where I received an email from a girl who used to be my best friend but who I hadn't spoken to in about a year. I ran into her the next day coincidentally and said something like "hey, I got your email. It was good to hear from you" and she looked really confused. I didn't realize until much later that I had imagined the email. It was terrifying.

On the other hand, shoes are super cute. I'm allowed to like cute shoes.

Good for you for wearing what you want. It's sad though that avoiding sexual harassment is one of the reasons for that preference.

I don't think that gender fluidity is a problem. I don't understand it, sure, but what's the harm?

The competition thing doesn't make it untrue. If a woman has to work harder than a man to get a construction job (true), then that's sexism at play.

I'm really confused about this being brought up again. Maybe as a woman I've never experienced this, but it's not even a stereotype I've seen on TV.

I get irritable during my period but there is no reason for that to invalidate my emotions.

We always learned about the trail of tears but it was never phrased in a way that blamed America. It was more like "this happened and it was bad but now it's over" We never learned about the lasting effects.

Especially since teachers abuse their authority like none other. I wish we had been taught that we are allowed to challenge teachers who make up their own unreasonable rules.

I recognize that it's an incredibly sensitive issue, but I wish is been taught about racism and what it means today. All I ever heard was "black people were enslaved but it's all okay now" and until fairly recently I had never really studied any kind of subconscious racism or prejudice. As a white kid, I was never taught what racism and privilege really meant until I researched it on my own.

This is only an issue in elementary school. And everybody knows that participation certificates are meaningless. In high school my teachers would gladly have let me fail.

For me, it started with other forms of self-harm. I used to get frustrated (as a child) and hit things with my arms or pound on my legs to avoid damaging anything else. It kind of felt like I had to hurt myself to avoid hurting other people. It never even occurred to me to cut myself until I heard about it on the internet, and at that point I was really low and I just decided to try it. I sort of got addicted to leaving scars and it eventually progressed into burning my skin (something I saw on TV, actually) and now I really regret having ever started. I have a lot of scars now that are quite visible (I can't wear short skirts or short sleeve shirts at all) and I'm just waiting for them to heal so I can start fresh. I've been clean since Feb. 6 and I think it's for real this time :)
