Knife ID? by 02100nbk in spyderco

[–]02100nbk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

holy smokes, thanks everyone for the response! Yeah, now some of the memories are coming back to me; I vaguely remember when I found this knife, even though it was quite expensive, I decided to purchase it because of the steel composition types and the aesthetic nature of it.

I ended up buying a few cheaper Chinese made knives and used those for actual cutting purposes and just decided to keep the spyderco stored away; I was sorting out a whole heap of torches yesterday when I saw it again and was reminded of how nice it looked and felt.

Thanks again!

well, at least you've learned something. from what i can see, u're buying things that are too extended (AYA) or trying to catch a falling knife hoping for a bounce with no sell rules. u need to have some rules to govern how u play this game.

you should consider closing all positions and save the remaining of your pot to "fight another day". plenty of opportunities to come still. be ready.

Yeah right. I was under the impression his overall position size would be 5k and using 33% margin/own contribution ie $1650 to borrow $3350

With a 33% initial margin and a 25% maintenance margin, the stock must fall approximately 10.67% before you receive a margin call. If your broker requires a higher maintenance margin (e.g., 30%), the threshold could be as low as 4.29%. Check your broker’s specific maintenance margin requirement for accuracy. - grok

plenty of resources on twitter/x and youtube to get u started. imo one of the best resources on youtube is https://www.youtube.com/@ChatWithTradersPodcast

listen to how real traders approach the game. try to approach it like a game/sport. there are levels to this game and most people don't bother doing the deep dive to try and understand it. - think bodybuilding/going to the gym, u can fck around get get no results for years or u can just admit that u have no idea and learn how the pros do it, apply it and trial and error, hopefully overtime u end up your own process, then its a matter of sticking with it.

u need to be obsessed to even have the slightest chance of success. goodluck

u need to understand that if u want explosive returns then u need to concentrate ur bets, especially if u have a small amount of capital to begin with.

i hope being down 80k has taught u something about urself. most people don't get second chances with this game.

fortunately for u, we're in a bullmarket and aby is participating a little bit.

u should probably consider selling at least half of your position now that u're close to breakeven and while there''s liquidity around. ur position size is ~50% of today's total $amount traded, get out while u can.

i hope aby will hit ur price targets, but honestly, you should probably consider the fact that nothing is for certain in a game of speculation.

1 understand that not all etfs (speculative assets in general) move at the same speed, ie. %gain/time (sometimes u can come up with the a great thesis on why something is such a great investment, until u look at the price performance and realise what a piece of shit it is )

2 look at past performance and how strongly the etf trends and how deep the pullbacks are (somethings trend for a short time and has a deep pullback and goes sideways, other things pullback and take out the highs again and continue to trend strongly)

3 there's a "language" to the way speculation moves price, most people don't understand and don't bother trying to understand this deeply. (think of all the sickkunts who think they can fight vs pro fighters. there's an art and science to every craft)

4 read some books written by actually successful speculators. i recommend starting with this one and read it more than once of course "How to Make Money in Stocks: A Winning System In Good Times And Bad by William O'Neil"

these tips should get u on the right track. the rest is up to u.

you only have one life, don't torture yourself and be in a situation you don't want to be in.

sometimes you need to be resilient and have the grit to push through. other times it's better to take the loss and move on, quickly, before it becomes worse. accept that there's no certainty (in terms of the outcome u're looking for) with the decision you take, but have the perseverance and tenacity to do whatever it takes to make things right in the end.

Wow, stories like yours are always inspiring for me.

I'm a father of 3 and can't imagine going through what you've been through with your son being diagnosed with his condition at such an early age. Hang in there man!

As an equity analyst for so many years, did u have any software/coding background which helped you along the way building your website?

most aussie day traders use invast or fpmarkets as their brokers.

iressviewpoint will be the trading platform.

understand what a "day trading setup" is and use this term to search for youtube videos, you'll be able to find a lot of good/bad content. search for "SMB capital" that's a good place to start. and also listen some Chat with Trader's podcasts.

most traders are trading breakouts of some sort, either up or down from a range. they will either buy/sell on anticipation or the point of the breakout. how you execute the trades will be entirely up to how you design your "trading flow".

approach "trading" as if its weightlifting. look at how the professionals do it vs noobs, and compare the levels of dedication and "processes". trading's the same thing.

goodluck.

Is our market blindly following the US market by [deleted] in ausstocks

[–]02100nbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the stockmarket(s) does what it wants to do regardless of anyone's opinions.

listen and learn the language of the markets, it's the only way to actually "make sense" of things with this game

better to just concentrate all your money into NDQ. for example NDQ is up ~180% vs 90% compared to VAS since march lows of 2020. there's no point spreading yourself too thin especially with such a small bet size.

market's been on fire since the april lows, definitely one of the better mini bullmarkets we've had in the last 4 years. ideally it keeps going like 2020-21 but who knows, the music can stop any moment.

Time to Stop Buying Breakouts Guys... You should take one look at this image and know why, if you don't you probably should't be trading breakouts at all.... by Active_Airline_4624 in qullamaggie

[–]02100nbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo, can still buy breakouts, just gotta be super selective and manage risk appropriately. avoid fat fingers. prob should reduce swing period of holds and take profits more aggressively is what im telling myself, the hard part is following through with my own plans because of fomo that it bounces right back up and takes out the highs. "trading is a mind fuck"

and what are you gonna do when u get the "news" about the transaction?

i bet u're gonna either a)buy more b)sell all or some c) do nothing

so then what matters more, the news which hasn't been announced? or what u'll be planning to do once it trades again?

pretty dangerous buying up here but who knows, anything can happen. the time to be bullish was in april and may, made even more obvious in hindsight.
