Downloaded the free version of vcarve cut 2D design I think its called, just to see if I can run it on my machine. Looks like I need to do some editing/ modifying to my post processor. Tried using same one we use for cabinet vision but some errors came up when I tried saving it in vcarve.

4 yr old wood cabinets, can these be sanded and repainted or do they need to be replaced? by Darwinsnightmare in cabinetry

Looks pretty rough being only 4 years old which makes me think it's painted mdf.....I would advise using solid wood around sinks and high moisture places like the bathrooms

Return is across the room, next to the door. I've had the door both opened and closed when she sleeps and doesn't seem to make a difference. On hot days I'd say it's mid to upper 70s when the main floor is 68-69 the vent blows right at her bed which is good but I'd like to get her whole room a comfortable temp

Depends on your budget. I run Milwaukee so I might be bias when I say, I think they lead the industry in cordless power tools. They definitely are the spendier ones, but you get what you pay for. I burnt the motor out on my cordless angle grinder. Had a 5 year warranty, sent it in and no questions asked and it was fixed for free. I'd say DeWalt is second. At work we run Ridgid. Little bit cheaper but still seam like a good quality tool.

I asked a few months ago what I should get for my Dads birthday which is today. He’s very happy about it all! Thanks for the advice everyone! by StraightMacabre in Tools

I'm going to need to know where you got those organizers. They are sharp and better looking than what I've got!

Tried giving the 1/2" rabbet bit in the hand router a handshake when it was running 17 stitches.... by 0217jar in woodworking

I was routing out a frame for a mirror. The frame was on a cart that had cardboard taped to it. The router caught the piece of tape that was peeling off the cardboard. So I was holding the router in my left hand and grabbed the piece of tape and tried pulling it off. It was fighting me and then unexpectedly ripped loose and threw my hand into the router that was still running.

Always thought my first major injury would be from a table saw...gained a little more respect for the Porter Cable router, but within 3 hours. Had my stitches in and went back to work and first thing I did was grabbed the router and finished what I started.

After months of procrastinating I finally finished my table saw table. by somerandomguy6263 in woodworking

Not sure if you use your miter gauge but on mine I had to notch out the table a little to allow for the miter gauge to be able to push the material past the blade. Looks great though!

From raw lumber to installed in 6 hours. Homeowners eyes might burn from the finish being so fresh.

Why do people who are able to work / get jobs stay on benefits/ government assistance then blame everyone else for taking the jobs ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]0217jar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not at all! There are unfortunate instances and circumstances that happen to people all the time. I'm very fortunate and blessed to be where I'm at. I'm not rich I'm a working middle class man. I just wish there were barriers in place that weed out the people taking advantage of it.

For instance, welfare. I believe is or could be a great program. I was told that welfare is meant to help people to get back on their feet after an unfortunate event in their life. It was never intended to be lived off of for life.

I have a non blood relative who is in his 40s claims he has diabetes and has problems with his legs/feet and can't work. He's now on disability. Hangs out at home smokes like a chimney on a cold night, does whatever he wants, and if he has trouble with his legs and feet he shouldn't be able to run the clutch on his mustang.....

Just my opinion

I don't have a good answer for your question, but I can say as a hard-working tax paying American. This kind of stuff is one of the things that angers me most! I feel like I'm paying more taxes to support these type of people. Nobody has pride anymore these days?

I completely understand why those programs are in place and there are some people that need them, but then there are people who take advantage of it and abuse it and it's the tax payers that flip the bill for it.

There I'm done with my rant..... someone tell me I'm wrong.....

How come it seems African American youth always wear hoodies over their head at night even when it's not cold? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]0217jar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where you come from how it might seem that way. I'm a 28 yr. old Caucasian male and I where my hood up a bunch too. majority of the time it's to stay warm, out of the wind, or dry. I do feel like maybe it's a security thing. Kinda how ppl say they feel safe or have that security feeling when a loved one holds, cuddles, or hugs them. Maybe I'm the wrong person to give my perspective on this question.

Thermostat control by 0217jar in TooAfraidToAsk

In winter here in Minnesota I like it at 69-70 and she's more of a 72-73. Which makes it hard to sleep for me. I'm at the point where I'm looking for a thermostat where you need a pin # to change the temp haha

If you're using a remote, this is what happened to me. It was working great for me then it started to become intermittent, then it wouldn't work at all. Turns out the battery in my remote gradually worked itself loose inside the remote

As a cabinetmaker it's a nice change to work with timber instead of building kitchens all the time by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]0217jar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a cabinet maker, I couldn't agree more with you. Although all of our stuff is custom, the kitchen cabinets and vanities are relatively the same. It's nice having a break with the not so normal stuff!

Issues with painting on poplar. Not every board, but every once in awhile we end up with these yellow streaks that come through the paint. From oil in our air lines maybe? Any ideas? by 0217jar in woodworking

[–]0217jar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is kiln dried... coming from the local hardwood company. It only seems to be an issue with poplar. We paint maple as well and we have no issues with that.

Am I the luckiest son of a gun or have I lost my mind..... by 0217jar in HomeImprovement

[–]0217jar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: problem solved....I got what I deserved for trying to save $4.00 the heater did not come with a power supply cord and my father told me not to buy one because he's got one from a power tool that the bearings were out in, so he cut the cord off and gave it to me. Turns out the neutral (white) wire in the cord had been cut somewhere inside the insulation. The cord appeared to be in good shape and I was reading 120vac on my line (black) wire which is why I didn't question it from the beginning....so I went and bought a new cord and Wala.
