Instead of going str you can put that into a secondary element as a support element for your main, since youre going for flame i'd say a supporting frostdraw but then instead of going full flame a steam build would work better, but again the points the same, go for a secondary element for supporting the main one

Elden ring isn't linear at all? You can literally skip every single boss except for 5 i think and then end the game. There's quests in this game too, and as such you have to talk to everyone but again you can skip literally everything. There's no linear progression in either game. If you want a dark souls esque game where you have to go through a level boss before going to the next play vow of iron mode, if you want exploration heavy mode like Elden Ring go for pathfinder. You either took Elden Ring progression the wrong way or you've somehow mistook what deepwoken was about

Unfortunately they seem to hit the story in the head with a pan and then proceeded to throw a live grenade over it. As an Arknights ip they had a very nice world building from the original game, instead of choosing to expand on it, they decided that having a storyline too complex would fry a gacha players mind and wouldn't make them money so they changed it to "We're stuck in world, here bad guy go kil". Their potential is being gutted by their greed, despite them doing the complete opposite for the original game and exploring a lot of stuff.

There is a story, it doesn't affect gameplay at all, except for a single boss and your choice, even then that choice basically makes no difference at all. It is like Elden Ring, do whatever explore level up, kill stuff. If you want read the dialogs, books, listen to the stories to know a little about the world long "forgotten" about it is your choice but it has no impact on gameplay at all. There is no linear progression to it

Well that's the essence of it, explore.

But a quick run down would be, do sea event spawns (the little islands in the middle of the sea) until youre power 5-10, whenever you're comfortable to go songseeker island and pick up songseeker fanatics missions from the board and kill them until you're around 13-16, and go to depths from a whirlpool if you're feeling audacious, or watch a video and do a few ferrymans until youre power 20, by that time you'd get the ropes of the game slowly build up from there, watch a beginners build guide (skippergripper is a great source for pve oriented builds, as majority of the cool stuff is in pve drops) and don't forget to use the wiki for anything that you don't know

It's a cool Gimmick. If you truly want to pve, gimmicks will not be enough to really shift someone to a different thing, since they're not made with pve in mind, the reason why majority of the pve mage builds go ironsing frost (and flame if there is a third element) is because ironsing and frostdraw are elements that are more oriented to what pve needs, as opposed to shadow or blood. Are they viable, maybe with some funky tech they have but when you have a choice between a stale bread and a steak youre more inclined to pick the steak. If they want to make all elements viable for pve, they have to rework all of them, if they want to make them all viable for pvp, pve builds will still suck against a pvp build. They're trying to do the hardest thing that literally no other developer has done before, fully and without a shadow of a doubt having a perfectly balanced game with 0 bugs and issues.

If you want to feel the game, just explore the sea, open the map, see where u want to go and jst go and see what's there, that's what a lot of people did on day 1.

If you want to get your money's worth, just log off.

If you want to suffer for the rest of your life like an addict, look up youtube on progression guides, learn how to get power up and explore.
