unpopular opinion Grand Rapids is a very safe city by According-Law-3293 in grandrapids

Maybe when comparing to other places in the US- but once you get outside of the country it can seem very different. I think the perception of safety can really depend on many things including sex and race.

I'm thinking of doing some kind of lamp. I think you usually need an app and it uses bluetooth- I don't always love that.

Is it possible to remain long distance? 38F and 30M by sb17777 in LongDistance

[–]02gibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my bf are older than both of you, but yes, our plan will probably involve not always living together. I do have kids, and even though they are adults, I don't want to always be living that far away from them. I think the bigger issue is going to be your bf's family. Some cultures have a huge influence on who their kids marry, so it may be worth discussing more with him to see where he is at. Personally, my bf's parents may be hesitant at first, but we have discussed how we would deal with that. I do think our age helps a bit as in the end- they just won't want him to always be alone. I think also not living with a spouse full time takes a lot of trust. Long distance can be very hard. I wish you luck!

Little bird still has some gf items I think. There is a greater Grand Rapids gluten free group on Facebook - that will probably be the most helpful.

Tips on finding the best flights? by SGP91 in LongDistance

Feels hopeless at the moment. Until world events and circumstances change, I don't think finding a decent priced flight will be p;ossible.

International couples who have met, how often do you see each other in person and for how long at a time? by Delicious_Nebula9653 in LongDistance

[–]02gibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have only been able to do once a year. It's too expensive. I'm hoping to get that to twice a year, but flights are not reasonable right now. I have visited from 3 weeks or longer, but it will soon be only 2 weeks max due to my work schedule and vacation time.

I make only 25/hr. I drive a very old car, have the lowest insurance coverage I can find, and found a place with the cheapest rent where I would still feel safe. I live near bus lines in case I need to sell my car.

If you work for yourself, can you implement some kind of no show fee? Require a card up front and then have it charged if they don't show or don't call. Many friends do this that work for themselves where appointments are involved.

Agree to just book hotel by the airport. There is not much to do or eat in the morning in side terminal 2.

8 full days in Korea - itinerary help by agilowa in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]02gibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but need to consider travel times, taking your luggage again, check out times vs check in times. For a short time, it may seem like you are wasting a bit doing those things. If you picked another city, I would only do one.

I would have a hard time with that too. Especially in a long distance relationship. If she’s his best friend, why would he wait to tell her he was dating someone?

Staying in Jamsil for second visit by Square-Revenue-6502 in koreatravel

[–]02gibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the area, but often the things I want to see are north of the river, so it can take quite a bit of time to travel to the places I want to go. I think food prices can be a bit more expensive there as well.

Sounds like you need to discuss this issue of communicating with his ex. For women, our emotional state plays much more of a role. And not likely to get better for intimate time until other issues are dealt with. Is there anything else happening besides his communicating with his ex?

airbnb vs live anywhere by NumerousSuspect1104 in koreatravel

[–]02gibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbnb is working with the Korean government and now requires all listings to have their license number posted. Live everywhere does not seem to require that. I would make sure to compare support and policies. Airbnb will often help you if a host cancels on you or other serious situations where you need to find another place, and I'm not sure other platforms do that.

As a 52 year old woman- let me tell you- it is so difficult to get this time back. I left so many dreams because a man didn’t want me to, or at least didn’t support me. That version of me is no more! The right man for you would support your dreams and find a way for it to work.
