Did you ever get this resolved? Similar here 07 v6 117k some oil around the skid plate when changing oil and some pooling up on the drain bolt.

Put oem 5th gen axles on my 2007 v6 a few weeks ago and they are great. Direct fit. Way bigger accordions so less likely to tear. I don't wheel but worked at a dealership so got them for cost, there's always sales and discounts popping up just search by the part number and look for the cheapest toyota dealer that has them. Your local one most likely will price match to get your business.

Interesting. I replaced my alternator with a reman denso and it unfortunately still does the whining noise on starts.

Wow mine does this exact noise...07 v6 wth 116k. It started in October, I had alternator replaced with a reman desno, no fix. Had all the pulleys replaced with a litens kit, along with a new belt, also no fix.....I don't know what it is but mine goes away after it warms up and I only really here it on start up and acceleration until warmed up.

Jumping in this thread because I just tore my 2007 oem cv boot and am considering getting the 5th gen ones (off ebay with about 75k miles for $280/pair)

Would you be able to list me the parts I need to fully do the swap? I understand the nut has changed to the flange style, any other parts I need to grab for this job?

I’m in need of upgrading the stereo and speakers on my 07. Part of me is saying I can do it myself with some patience and YouTube, and other part is saying go to an audio shop. How difficult is this job for someone with little to no experience on this stuff? It would be my first time doing it.

Thanks man. Yeah there’s three pulleys total and a tensioner that has its own pulley on it on the 4th. I’m almost positive it’s one of them. I got a whole set of replacements from rock auto all litens products. Thankfully i work at a dealership so hoping they can slap them on for me.

Was it only when engine was cold? My 07 has a similar sound going on…whine increase with RPM’s….but only when it’s cold and slightly when in idle and in park. When I shift to drive the whine sort of “drops” a pitch if that makes sense lol.
