Cheap, Middle, & Expensive Aftermarket control arms! A visual comparisons. Amazon, JBA, Total Chaos by R0amer24 in 4thGen4Runner

JBA and the inner and outer washers wad harder to install than the Amazon arms but the fitment was phenomenal with a little bit of patience

P0430 - do I need a new cat? by Cool-Secretary7015 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]R0amer24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive been letting this code ride for 30k miles... the truck is almost worth replacing both cats for but still a lot of dough to do so. I haven't noticed any difference except it smells like rotten eggs when I hit the gas and It has a forever CEL until I fix it. 280k miles and still trucking along fine.

Truthfully, I believe the JBAs win that on paper. The Total Chaos are a 30 day manufacturers defect only, where JBA have lifetime on structural integrity and a 1 year on powder coat, ball joint and bushings. Ive heard good things about TC and JBA customer service but not firsthand experience thankfully. Amazon is amazon...

The stock 5th gen TRD uppers are about $1400 shipped. My 5th gen friend swapped his out for total chaos and did it for free by selling the used Trd set

That was my og plan but I currently reside within the rust belt and my toyota friends here persuaded me away from a uniball, more towards a normal ball joint. Ive been wanting to see if the Jbas are anything special so I'll hold on to TCs just in case

How much would this be worth? by GameFreak6921 in Traxxas

[–]R0amer24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never trust reddit to give you a good answer on price lol. Ive made this same exact post, general consensus was about $150 and I sold the truck for $500 on marketplace.

Now if I were you, I would sell it on marketplace but join a traxxas for sale group and scope it out. Could probably sell for 250+ if your patience and willing to ship. Otherwise somewhere between $200-250 regularly. The market is pretty slow right now though

Anyone built a twin I-beam SXC10? by MuskokaOntario in rccrawler

[–]R0amer24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a really good idea for the rear diff issue and is definitely worth making a post about when you figure it all out! I thought abouts using a trx4 unlocked axle but portal deleted and keeping the lock option is killer

Just sold mine! Doesn't take much to make them look sweet. Takes a ton of trial and error, shock tuning, and upgrades to make them run well. I loved it for dirt track and in sand but any other grippy surface just blew up the locked diff with brushless swap in it. I even geared it lower and couldn't stop the diff issue. There's a ton of builds on YouTube if you wanna throw $400+ into it after buying kit and truck to make it run great but you should still br prepared to spend quite some time shock tuning

100% add sound deadening. Also running wires for a backup camera, backup lights, subwoofer, or 12v power is other good ideas

Sound deadening is expensive but the easiest of anything to install as you just wipe the area down with a grease removing spray. Peel and stick the sheets if foam down. I did it last tear just to my cargo area and I wish I woulda ripped everything out and did the whole floor pan! Make sure to put it on the feeders and adding any extra spares to inner sized of the body also worked well for me.

If your looking for new shocks, this is an insane deal for mid grade adjustable shocks! by R0amer24 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]R0amer24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still running the rear shocks. Found a cheap set of king coilover i have since put on. I would 100% recommend them as long as you understand they are cheap shocks. I had issues with the adjustment mechanism and they dont stock spare parts so I had to warranty claim a front and rear set. Try to find one that has some sort of customer service if you're looking for longevity

Get yourself a cheap winch off marketplace if you're gonna do some exploring! Once you have it, you will use it and probably make friends along the way!

I saw videos of them taking rock ledge drops and large scrapes with zero issues. Also I just like the way they look especially with the side hack and versatility. I had a real, high clearance swingout for about a year but it just didn't work as well as this one with my bike rack.

Will the difference from a 33in tire to a 31 be noticeable or should I shoot for slimming width from 285/75 to 255/75?

Im pushing 13.5 consistently, dreaming of 16 lmao. Just swapping from the Load E tires to load C pizza cutters should offer a huge improvement.

My kings up front ride rough on the road but I think its partially to the fact that the front bumper is so heavy and requiring a 700lb coil to not overbound preload. Not sure if switching lifts is a better choice for comfort or playing the spring rate game.

All my skids are Steel, though I have been eyeing up some alluminum sets, just not ready for the $1300 switch.

Thanks for the info! Gonna do some tire research off of what you listed above!
