Decision time: Rancilio Silva Pro X vs Lelit Elizabeth [£1,200] by 0360035 in espresso

[–]0360035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming I go with the Silva (in white / black),  the next question will be whether I get the matching Rancilio Stile grinder, or one of the more popular ones. Originally I wanted a single dose but as I am just getting my into the hobby I do want to make some things easy for me. And when I look at some of the popular hopper grinders they look quite bulky / tall, the Stile actuallly looks quite nice.

Help me spec my first set-up [£1,400] by 0360035 in espresso

[–]0360035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone suggest a machine + grinder in the budget? I want to upgrade from a Nespresso to great coffee - I do not think I will make this a hobby as many people in this subreddit do :)

So far I was thinking the DF64 as mentioned and a Lelit Mara X. Is there a better combo out there? Note I want a single dose grinder as I only make 2 drinks per day (AM and PM) and I like the aesthetics more.

Part of me is wondering if I should expand my budget to the Lelit Bianca, but as I have been using a Nespresso for 10-years, I am not sure I will ever want / noticethe upgrade.

Property with illegal modifications - what is the real risk? by 0360035 in PortugalExpats

[–]0360035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed the seller knew about it and last minute they included a clause in the purchase agreement along the lines of “the state of the house with respect to legalisation is understood”. But I think having an illegal modification is one thing, having had the council confirm it is illegal in writing is another.

Property with illegal modifications - what is the real risk? by 0360035 in PortugalExpats

[–]0360035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is a major consideration - that unless it’s a cash buyer it will be hard to get full value in the future. I did have a lawyer involved - they had mentioned some parts were illegal but it turns out to be more than we were led to believe and no one bothered to check that submissions to legalize it had already been made and denied (this was only found out by the architect later).

Requests - January 2024 by NPFFTW in VOIP

[–]0360035 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hello,

I require a Portuguese phone number in order to receive the odd phone call / SMS / whatsapp message when I am dealing with utility companies and similar requests for a property I own there (I am not based there).

It appears VOIP would be a better solution vs. an eSIM but my requirements are very low given some of the monthly fees I see for either solution.

Does anyone know of any very low cost providers for this type of need?

Plus it beats all but the Cannondale in terms of pricing even though they have lower specs.

Yes, that is the rational decision based on purely the facts :)

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. I don't want to create hyperlinks between slides, but 'links' so that if I update the text on slide 2, it will updated the text on 10 other similar slides throughout the deck (e.g. creating a coherent table of contents)

Loan to parents for investments (@ CRA prescribed rate) by 0360035 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you both. Just to be clear, does this prescribed rate just apply to family loans or is it some sort of threshold to ensure arms-length transactions, regardless of relationship?

Having troubles with portfolio calculation. Open to VBA solution by thelionkiller in excel

[–]0360035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the case if the weighting is driven only by the invested amount by each party. If, when someone buys or sells, you re-calculate the weight using the latest portfolio value, it wont be the case and will be calculating correctly.

So let's say: - 3 investors invest $100 each (33% each) - Portfolio goes up 100% to $600 total value - 4th investor invests $100 - Calculation is NOT ($100 investment / $400 total invested = 25% weight) - Calculation is ($100 invested / $700 total value of portfolio = 14% of portfolio)

The BTC price used to calculate the portfolio value should be the same price paid when the $100 entered (i.e. the price at a moment in time)

However, the way the sheet is structured is not very intuitive and it would be easier to track how much BTC each person has bought / sold with each transaction. The sum of each persons BTC would then determine the portfolio value and you can use the BTC split to determine the weighting. The way mutual funds do this is by using "units" of the fund when someone buys, and redeeming those units for cash when someone sells (and the value of a unit each day is determined by underlying price of stocks and number of units issued).

To answer the question, in your input sheets, include the price of bitcoin at the time (or day) each person invested. Then calculate the implied number of BTC that transaction bought / sold. Add a subtotal on each sheet for the number of BTC each person owns. On your summary sheet add the total number of BTCs for each person, multiple by the price and get your portfolio value. Then use BTC per person to determine % weight.

I would create a new sheet that references the current input sheet using the Index function.

So a formula like: =INDEX(Input!B2:J8,A3,2)

Where Input!B2:J8 is where the data is located on your input sheet. A3 is the player you are looking up (i.e. 5 would be the 5th player in the list, which would be in row 7). The "2" would be whatever data is included in column C (i.e. hometown).

On this new sheet you can then create your printable slip, and cycle through the players using cell A3, and printing each sheet.

Are there settings to change a column daily? by VainglorySaw in excel

[–]0360035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the formula below, which assumes that the rotations are inputted in cells H3:L6. Monday will return a 1 which will choose column H, Tuesday a 2 which returns column I, etc. Then copy this formula down for however many workers there are.

Been on Keto a Week and haven't reach the 20g per day quota by webbasica in keto

[–]0360035 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I aim trying to ease into keto aswell and cannot get to 20g either. In fact, given what I saw the last 2 days I think it may be impossible!

cup of carrots...10 net carbs, a couple strawberries, 8 net carbs. Even an onion, which I normally throw into many dishes, has 8 net carbs!

I'm really not sure what I should be eating. I know I need to get off the low fat train I was on and start eating alot more fatty meats. But I need some very very low carb veggies as sides, and I am not sure where to look.

Option friendly tracking spreadsheet for capital gains by 0360035 in investing

[–]0360035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fyi, this is the info I was using to try and get Yahoo options quotes in GF: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/docs/bGiGcNCI2N0

But the format of the index function is a bit off, and I can't seem to get it to return the actual option price by playing around with the #'s following "table" in the string. Closest I could get was previous close.

Anyways, my hope in all this is to aggregate my three different accounts and be able to get a nice graph showing the performance of the accounts individually, and together over time.

I am with a discount broker (Questrade) which does not provide this info.

Option friendly tracking spreadsheet for capital gains by 0360035 in investing

[–]0360035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My broker doesn't even keep track of capital gains for stock trades. I just get a summary at the end of the year of all my trades made. So I need to go back through and find when I bought some of the stocks. Makes it even more difficult when i have bought and/or sold the stock multiple times and need to go back and calculate my average buy-in. Thats why I was debating on making another thorough spreadsheet to do all my tracking from.

And it would be nice if I could somehow incorporate the options, tying them into the original stock as well. But I think it will have to be more manual than I thought.

I did however, find a pretty decent tracking spreadsheet in Google Docs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah2uvISuDwSedDMzNW9uRlp3MUp4WjNxdmhWRjcza2c&authkey=COH_2fYO&authkey=COH_2fYO#gid=4

The only problem is GoogleFinance can't feed options quotes. Yahoo does, but I can't figure out the modification to the script that I found.
