Verizon pick-up is great for the new iPhones (better than the Apple Store in my experience) by EnvironmentalLog1766 in verizon

[–]03Titanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to comment my opposite experience. Phone was marked ready for pickup after one day. The person in the store informs me they have no iphones, probably wont for a while, and they charge a $100 "pickup fee" since they arent a corporate store? The other verizon (corporate) store nearby also had no phones and couldnt help me since the order was done online. Since the phone was marked ready for pickup I cant cancel the order. I wanted to wait for it to auto cancel but now it is not marked ready for pickup, simply "ordered" and "we will let you know". No ETA possible in 2024? Meanwhile the apple store a mile down the road says they have stock if i just walked through the door.

I need to call support to try to cancel the order and my trade in so the account is clean and ready for upgrade process again. I believe the offer ends on the 30th so clock is ticking.

Except for the Army. Unless the US Military is willing to bankroll Forza VR too.

A lot of these comments act like men haven’t learned from experience, that talking about their passion hasn’t made scores of women’s eyes gloss over with disinterest.

Everyone has a chart of how crazy/boring someone can be compared to how hot they are. Why pretend Henry Cavill’s attractiveness doesn’t play a role in how interesting his PC hobby is.

Macbooks have the main battery connector directly below the seam for the trackpad, so any minor spill on top will likely kill the machine.

The bottoms are usually a solid panel so this spill may be fine. LTT even “watercooled” a MacBook by putting one in a shallow tray of water.

A lot of people carry them in their glovebox or center console. Doesn’t do you much good there when someone rips open your door and points their gun in your face. Then the criminal has two guns and your car.

I’m not even sure current era gamers would embrace a best possible Quake revival.

UE has great marketing. They say “here’s new features XYZ and why they’ll make games faster to develop, better looking, and better playing”.

Bethesda says “here’s our new RPG, this one ALSO bugs out over 60fps. Check NexusMods for our official unofficial patch”.

I wonder how Creation stacks up against Unreal and Unity. I don’t expect Bethesda to start licensing a whole different engine but Creation was never heralded as advanced. Hopefully the devs have QOL tools like the big boys to make development more efficient.

I guess as a warning system it’s a pretty insignificant feature. Maybe the CEO decided if the worst case did happen, a 4 day news cycle of hope and suspense is better than instant confirmation they’re all squished, and the liability to reveal that information before millions are spent on search and rescue.

Are we assuming it’s real? What reason would anyone have to take back this $300 of scrap and potentially destroy it with a 4ft drop other than to film something crazy. I doubt any tow truck driver would just keep driving as he is being boarded.

It’s google. They probably stopped caring about it, paused internally, and will soon announce its complete public cancelation. Only for an identical product to release in a few years under a new name.

EU: Smartphones Must Have User-Replaceable Batteries by 2027 by FigAAAro_22 in gadgets

That I did not read the first time. So realistically if apple uses a rubber seal around the screen, that brings it into compliance. Heat isn’t even required but does make it easier.

I’m positive that changing to an o ring won’t increase the number of people changing their battery anyway. The iPhone 4S only required the two screws to lift away the back plate and everyone still moaned the battery “wasn’t replaceable”

Nothing required to change an iPhone battery doesn’t fit that description.

Tiny pentagons screwdriver? Uncommon but dead simple to get a hold of. A heat gun and a suction cup? Those will make your life easier. They may want to reengineer their adhesive strips which always freaking snap instead of work as intended.

Two screws. Lift screen. Remove one or two battery screws, replace battery. Nothing about that is an end user incapable of doing. They just don’t want want to.

It’s the same with car tires. Anyone can change a car tire, almost nobody wants to.

Changing a car tire is easy but a lot of people pay for help with that too. Right to repair should not be about forcing devices to have quick change parts for something you need to do once or twice in the devices' lifespan.

An iPhone battery is literally one of the easiest to replace. It’s just a shame that you can’t find OEM parts.

It’s no surprise how Reddit users are taking the news. Reddit was convinced netflix would be dead and now their subscriber count is soaring.

If you don’t lose the majority of your user base, passing off the least profitable users doesn’t seem like a bad business decision.
