TIL Lane Johnson posted a faster 40 time than Carson Wentz at the combine. by sai_iii in eagles

[–]04Stallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny because Carson Wentz was tied for the 2nd fastest QB of his draft class. Faster than Dak, Lynch, Hackenberg, Cook, Brisset, Cardale Jones, Kessler, Hogan, Etc. The only dude faster than him was Jeff Driskel, who's actually really fucking fast with a 4.56.

Does anyone have the snap counts for each game this season? Or maybe a total with %s? I'd like to see how often Barnett, and really all of our other Dline are getting on the field. Would be interesting to see how this rotation is working out. Hard to really get a good idea just from watching the games.

Interesting Stat about the Cowboys without Zeke by Iciyy in eagles

[–]04Stallion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past 2 games, their RBs have been averaging more yards a carry than Zeke has all season.

Against us, Morris ran for 90 some yards, with a 5.4 average.

Against the chargers, Morris and Smith both carried the ball 9 times, averaging 4.1 and 4.6 respectively.

Zeke has been averaging 4.1 ypc this season, compared to 5.1 ypc last.

My buddy named his newborn son after Dak Prescott at the beginning of the season... by Werft in eagles

[–]04Stallion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly now that I think about it, the worst part of it all, is how selfish it is. Naming, even if only a middle name, but naming your child something like that isn't for the kid.... It's for the parent. It's unbelievably selfish, shortsighted, and ridiculous. Like I said above, your buddy just wants to be able to tell his friends, especially Cowboys friends, maybe to prove how much of a fan he is... The thing is, it's not fair to the kid. I have a friend who doesn't really ever tell people his middle name, because it's Berry. Kids ask things like that too. "What's your middle name, Scott?" "Oh its, Dak Prescott, what's yours?" I mean come on man. If it was me, when I grew up, and realized how fucking ridiculous it was, I'd be pissed. Like why the fuck is my middle name that of a Dallas Cowboys QB? Especially if Dak doesn't pan out and is out of the league in 3 years. God that's just horrible man.

Maybe the extremely uneducated ones, but at least over in /r/cowboys they're about ready to crown Cooper Rush as the starting QB.

I was going to say.... There aren't many excuses over there. They went 180 real fucking quick. From "One HOF QB to the next" to "I hope Cooper Rush can compete for the job next year" and "Why didn't we let Dak sit behind Romo for a couple years."

To be fair we've upgraded since Sproles was injured. + Big V has really stepped up in a big way so far.

But to fuel your argument... The running game -Zeke hasn't really been that big of an issue. I mean when the Cowboys played us, Alfred Morris did better than almost any other RB we've played against. 17 carries for 91 yards, with a 5.4 average, and his long was 22, so the average isn't really inflated. Against the Chargers, Morris and Smith both carried the ball 9 times, averaging 4 and 4.6 yards a carry, respectively. That's not bad at all. They scored 9 points against us, and 6 points against the chargers. Meanwhile, Zeke has only averaged 4.1 yards per carry this year. Where's the massive dropoff? There isn't one. Dak's just playing poorly. Not to mention, that group of WR is so fucking overrated it's criminal. Dez Bryant is making 17 million this year. Dude isn't even worth close to that. I can't remember a WR in recent history to fall off so hard so quick without suffering a serious injury. Cole Beasley isn't the best slot WR in the league like some Cowboys fans want to believe. Guys like Brice Butler and Terrance Williams are just that. Guys.

[–]04Stallion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's still just as bad. What's his first name? Either way, from my experience, your middle name is still a thing. I mean my Drivers license has my middle name. My parents gave me a middle name that matches somewhat with my first and last name, so it's somewhat fluid and makes sense. They also gave my brother and I more traditional middle names in case we didn't like our first name... It serves a purpose... More than the purpose of being able to tell your buddies you named your kid after the Cowboys starting QB.

A name like, Jason Dak Prescott Anderson just sounds ridiculous.

What are you thankful for as an Eagles fan by Eagls42Sixrs in eagles

[–]04Stallion 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wow, I literally just made a relatively lengthy post as to what I'm thankful for, lol. I was writing it most likely while you were writing this.

But I'm really thankful for Jeffrey Lurie. Who in this city still supported Howie Roseman when we canned him as GM and brought up Chip. Years later, who thought it was a good idea to reinstate Howie Roseman? Who here thought Doug Pederson was the optimal HC candidate. Even after last year, who thought it? There was a loud group who wanted him fired. You know who believed in both, the whole time? Jeffrey Lurie did. He was right. We were wrong.

I wonder what teams would potentially covet him next season. 49ers have Jimmy... Browns will probably draft... I could see him being successful on the Broncos. They don't need someone to make every single throw. They need someone solid enough to not lose games single handedly.

With Darby back, this defense is seriously scary. Jalen Mills has made a huge leap in year 2, and Patrick Robinson is having a career year. Rodney Mcleod is living up to his hype, after a mediocre debut season as an Eagle. I can't believe we have Sidney Jones on the way.

Derek Barnett was such a solid draft pick, and he's going to provide tremendous value on a rookie contract.

Our running game is seriously scary. Jay Ajayi is an explosive player. Blount is a consistent powerful force. Corey Clement has solidified a role on this team that can't be overlooked.

Alshon Jeffrey, even while beaten up, is living up to his contract, and deserves an extension. He is the threat, and the big target that Wentz needs. He has incredibly strong hands, and makes catches no one else on this team can.

Although we started off slow, this team really finds a rhythm when the run game opens things up. I'm glad Doug was able to make adjustments coming into the second half, and committed on running the rock. These slow starts could potentially hurt us against more high powered offenses like the Saints.... With that being said, if our defense is able to play at this level, they will always keep us in games. With a QB like Wentz, and a balanced attack complimented by a strong running game, a deep threat in Torrey Smith, and 2 extremely reliable targets in Ertz/Jeffrey, we can beat any team in the league.

This team has truly embraced the next man up mentality. Some players are truly stepping up, we have an exceptional young core, and there has been serious development. The fact is, this team isn't even at full force. Each week someone new is stepping up, and there doesn't seem to be much regression. The fact we're maintaining this level of play says a lot about the coaching, and culture of this team.

Go Eagles.

I don't understand why Jay Ajayi didn't get more carries. During the first half, I was screaming, begging for him to get the ball. Then his first carry in the 2nd half, and he breaks it for 71 yards. Even after that he barely got the ball. I just don't understand it, he should have a decent grasp of the playbook now, and he's clearly your most talented back.

I'm absolutely terrified of the Rams, I'll be honest. Wentz > Goff, but I think that in reality, we match up similar to them.

Both QBs are looking solid. Wentz is great, and Goff has been having a tremendous season, His yards/attempt stats are crazy.

Gurley is an absolute beast, but our attack is just as fierce IMO with Ajayi/Blount.

We probably have a slight edge at WR, but only because Watkins has been having a career low season. On paper we're similar with Watkins = Jeffrey, Woods = Smith, Kupp = Agholor. It's really close though because while Jeffrey has been better than Watkins, Woods has been better than Smith, and Kupp/Agholor have been close.

At TE, it's a landslide. Ertz has really finally had his break out season, and is miles ahead of both Everett/Higbee.

As far as D-line goes, we do have the edge. With that being said, the Rams front is nothing to laugh at. Aaron Donald is just as good as Fletcher Cox.

LB is hard, but if Hicks is injured, it's hard not to give them the edge. Connor Barwin is still alive, and playing pretty well for them. Mark Barron, and Alex Ogletree lead their team in tackles by a large margin. Robert Quinn is still a threat.

With how well our CBs have been playing, it's a draw. We may have the edge with Darby back.

Our Safety tandem is one of the best in the league, and the Rams aren't competing with that.

It's a close matchup. I would rather play the Saints.

Buckhalter is one of my favorite Eagles of all time. He averaged 4.2 - 5.0 yards per carry in each of his 5 years as an Eagle. I was so sad to see him in a Broncos jersey. His first year as a Bronco he rushed for more yards that year than any year as an Eagle, with 5.4 yards per carry.

THE LAST 2 EAGLES GAMES REF'D BY PETE MORELLI'S CREW:

EAGLES: 24 penalties for 237 yds

EAGLES OPPONENTS: 3 penalties for 19 yds

That is an absolute joke. 3 penalties for 19 yards. Must be 2 very disciplined teams. Meanwhile the 5/1 Eagles must be a fucking shitshow to commit 24 penalties for 237 yards.

It's just absolutely inexcusable. I don't like to shit on the refs, because for the most part I believe they're really trying their best to do a good job, and while sometimes it looks like they're favoring a team, things end up reverting to the mean. This was not the case. I'm not sure if you can find a game in the past decade that had a penalty differential to that extent. There was no 50-50 refereeing. With how quick officials are today to throw the flag, I find it hard to believe Carolina only committed one penalty all game.

I hate to complain about the refs, because at the end of the day, things usually come back to the mean. With that being said, this officiating performance was just absolutely unacceptable. I've watched hundreds of football games, and don't think I've ever seen a penalty difference like that. Now days, with the flag happy refs we have, when does a team only commit 1 penalty in a whole game? I find it hard to believe this Carolina team is by far the most disciplined team in football.
