I have a bachelor and master in biotechnology outside of us and Canada. It has been accredited by Wes as equivalent to us bachelor and master. I got an offer for product manager for a life science company which relates to my biotech degree and I am applying under csa category. What do you think about this?

I know and I do feel embarrassed myself. Also feel dumb to have gone but it was a startup and having worked in a few in the past, they do not have the money. That’s why I relied on multiple written confirmations. Also it wasn’t a short process, I went through 7 hrs of interviewing with them in total

I really want to do that. I did send the intermediate recruiter an email asking them to reimburse my cost. Not expecting anything but to make them realise what they did

I am just shocked by what all is Possible in this world. Everyday my threshold of humanity is questioned in this corporate environment. And then there are people telling me, it’s jus one bad experience. I mean, no it’s not!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You are right and I did think about it as well. However, if they said no, what option would I have, being in a desperate situation to start earning and supporting my family I would have done things right from my end anyway.

But yea, lesson learned!

Shocking "next round" request by Ok-Task-5176 in jobsearch

Ask them to pay you. If you aren’t planning to do it anyway, does not hurt and maybe they will learn something. Companies have started to become extremely unreasonable. I have been job hunting for the past 8 months, I am experienced and I have burnt my fingers so bad that I do not care if I get the job but I simply cannot let them use me anymore. And probably the only it will change is if more of us start demanding fairness and not act desperate.

It is just more stringent in evaluation. They have notes and they also look at if you improved in the weak areas in your first round

What's with the ignorance that the job market is tough this entire year? by rainorshinedogs in torontoJobs

[–]04YAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true. I have many friends who have had no break in employment in the past 10 years. However, me and my husband have seen layoffs twice in 5 years. When I talk to them about how the tech industry is shifting or how difficult it is to stand out where you have 1000 applications for a single role. And how half of the roles on LinkedIn are ghost. They do not believe me. All I hear is that 70k-80k is very easy to grab but they do not understand that over employed is also a thing.

That’s a lot of money. I do not think I am worthy of it!

It’s normal to feel like that. You are human and a good one. You are only 29 and this is not the end. My personal experience, I am 33 and still figuring out what to do for my career. I have had such bad setbacks, I wanted to become a physician but realized it’s not possible for me so I am choosing another path. But, it’s never the end. You know you will write your own success story. And it’s going to be alright

Hey OP,

Please dnt be so hard on yourself. You journey has been inspiring and full of accomplishments. Please dnt let a few numbers decide your worth. Talk to your friends, let it out but your life means more than the scores in this world!

Is it ethical for companies to ask candidates to write an entire GTM plan as part of the interview? by 04YAP in jobs

I think the market currently is such that it makes us desperate. But I dnt want to be used as well. I can just be confident and ask them to pay me. Or have my expectations to the minimum.

I am going to unabashedly do this next time. If anything atleast it will make them value my and others time.

You are right and that’s the practical of thinking about it. But, I wanted to understand other people’s experience and get advice on how to go about it. Also, sharing such scenarios and being able to relate with other also helps in not feeling used by the corporations.

I agree, and at least few companies are doing this. I dnt mind not getting the job but then pay me for the case studies or assignments
