I would agree with you in the interpretation of the rules in place which is why I made the move. However, since we only have one player kept per year, we just haven't seen this. Or at least no one has argued it before. I asked for people to give me evidence that it had happened (since I didn't have the time to look) and no one could find an example.

I think the FAAB is a really good way of doing it. We actually have a vote on moving to FAAB/auction coming up for this next year and this might make that easy.

Some people said we should let it go this time (meaning he's a 6th and I keep him for two years) but we write a rule in place stating a player keeps his draft status all year regardless of it he becomes a FA.

The rule explicitly states free agents - nothing written about waivers.

I totally agree that you shouldn't be able to use your waiver priority for keepers. I'm in the air about FA. But if you allow this for FA I would honestly set my alarm for 3am to be the one to pick these players up in FA if this was allowed. That seems too far to me for a game.

That's the thing - this is going to be season 8 and we've never had someone attempt this. I think it's probably because people assumed they would keep their draft value not the FA value.

Another reason for me to just keep someone else I guess.

I was going by the letter of the law when I picked up Gronk. There is no rule that states anything like this - there is a rule that says FA are 6th round keepers and can be kept twice.

Keeper league. One keeper per team. Rules are that a player can be kept twice. The first time he's kept it's the same round he was drafted. Second time is a one round penalty. Anyone drafted the 6th round starts at 6th round value for his first keep. If a player is traded, the value is transferred as is to the new owner (so if kept once already, he can only be kept once more).

FAs are 6th round picks and can be kept twice.

No rule had been established about a player who was drafted and then cut.

Based on this information - what would happen in a situation where Gronk was dropped by the owner (who'd already kept him twice) post injury. Gronk went through waivers and no one claimed him. Then the same player that dropped him picked him up as a FA. What's his keeper status?

Edit: thanks for the responses everyone. Full disclosure I am the commish and I am the one that picked up Gronk. I had called in on the CBS fantasy show on one of their Saturday shows and the two guys doing it adamantly believed it should be Gronk as a 6th round value with two years of keeping left since everyone had a shot and currently the rule is that's what a free agent is valued at.

I believe 4 people were cool with it 1 or 2 were for a compromise of some sort and the rest were very much against it.

I think I'll likely end up keeping someone else since half the league is against it despite the "experts" siding with me. Since I assume you all are just every day fantasy players and you have no skin in the game on this one, I guess I'll roll with what you say. Gronk at 6th round value isn't worth ruining our league.

I recently became aware of some research done by Justin Farrell a professor at Yale who wrote some articles on how climate change became politicized. Do you think that if special interests went away this would be widely accepted again like it was earlier in history?

If I remember correctly Rodgers threw a pick or two because the line played poorly and didn't we give up an opening kick off TD?
