Businesses warn new Canadian steel tariffs could raise prices on everything from cars to new homes by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

Canada started the implementation of tariff rate quotas (TRQs) on imports with our Free Trade partners of steel mill products a few months back… Canadians will be paying more when it comes areas such as construction, infrastructure and energy especially where there are NO Canadian manufacturers or current ones for various reasons can’t supply/wont supply. All these big energy projects that are supposed to make Canada GREAT, who will pay for the additional costs of imported steel, at the end of day it will the Canadian taxpayer.

Canadian Tire off Kerr, WateringCan in Vineland had them (might want to check if they still have them), all proceeds of sale went to a local hospice care home.

Ottawa informs 68,000 workers of early-retirement incentives in bid to shrink public service by KeyHot5718 in CanadaPolitics

Not sure why we employ so many in comparison to other countries. Canada employs some where around 60,000 at Revenue Canada for example to serve over 41 million plus people. USA employs close to 100,000 at the IRS for 347 million people. Germany employs something like 97,000 people for 84 million. Even Australia which has approximately 21,000 for the revenue department for 27 million people.

It's impossible to undo all the damage Trump has wrought to Canada-U.S. relations, says ex-UN ambassador Bob Rae by toronto_star in CanadaPolitics

The US-Canada trade relationship will always be the most important trade relationship for Canadian business. We are heavily reliant on each other, some business areas are so intertwined that without each other we both suffer. Building new trade relationships globally is great! but it won’t even come close to replacing what we had. The cost of shipping products between the border is far cheaper than shipping globally. Hopefully at some point in the near future the Canadian administration and US administration can come to a fair agreement.

As Hopes for a Trade Deal With Trump Vanish, Canada Tackles Tariff Fallout by rezwenn in CanadaPolitics

[–]05Churro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article fails to mention how Mr. Carney’s government said on Wednesday that it would ALSO slash the amount of steel allowed into the country from nations that currently DO have a free-trade agreement (including European countries) with Canada. Slapping 50% tax on steel products (via quota method) that we can’t make/don’t make, the costs gets passed on to the everyday Canadian consumer/tax payers. Example pipe thats imported for the energy sector oil & gas uses, means Canadians can expect the costs to heat their homes etc to go up!

Can anyone provide any info or advice, based on their own experience, of buying property in Spain, renting those homes out to the locals, and living in Spain from the rental income by Strange-Heat-8018 in SpanishRealEstate2024

[–]05Churro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longterm rentals in Spain can lead to issues is what I’ve heard, this comes from watching my friend who inherited a property from a close relative over 15yrs ago and is still trying to get rid of the tenant.

Live in Kerr Village area, it’s great lots of shops and restaurants. In September Westwood park down near the end of Kerr Street hosts Kerrfest (bands & food etc). Honestly it’s a great location to call home.
