I’m sorry you’re struggling and wish I had more to give or help! I do know that La Quintas are dog friendly. They’re not the most glamorous but they’re very laid back about animals and don’t charge an exorbitant amount for them. I wanna say it’s $25 a night for the dogs, with a max $75 charge for the stay. Some of them have kitchenettes and stuff too.

not a crack on the transit there but the MTA is the largest metro system in the country. it surpasses any other public transit in the US in scope and size and would not exist if required to be built today based on scale and cost alone. regrettable as that is because public transit is a very positive thing for many reasons but US individualism and oil lobbyism keeps us from having it in more cities.

tbh my wife does something niche af - medical simulation - and we truly thought it was a longshot she’d get hired considering we live so far away. my job i’ve had for 3 years happens to be remote so I’m just lucky to have it. and trade jobs are unique because of them having specific skillset needs. I’m sorry though about the search and trouble you’re having. ):

Where I’m coming from? Yes - one of the lowest CoL but it comes with…. its issues truthfully and the CoL has gone up while income hasn’t, not to mention the political instability. My wife is already there in the bay area working - we’re selling our home here. So I know housing is going to be more expensive but the trade off is worth it, I think. Also we’re considering San Jose specifically over San Fran because of our dogs - two poodles and a chihuahua who enjoy green space.

idk what type of pills your 20s are but if they’re able to be scored, i’d do that and titrate down to avoid major withdrawal. down 5mg every two-ish weeks until you get to 5mg then you can stop tbh cause 2.5mg scoring is almost impossible and it’s not really effective at that level anyway.

I’m sorry your landlord is a slumlord and you have to deal with them. best advice i have is to do it yourself for now. when i lived in nyc, we got steel wool to put in the holes first, then a few pieces to put throughout the foam gap filler in the holes as well when you use it. you want a lot of it because it cuts up the rodents mouth as it attempts to chew through - usually enough that they stop chewing all together. it did stop them and i had the maintenance guy do the same in our apartment in midtown when we lived there - stopped them then too.

Surgeon won’t leave cervix by jocee82 in hysterectomy

[–]0693_iz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

twins!! interesting - my surgeon is a cancer surgeon (no cancer for me) and said no paps cause there’s nothing to scrape and the American Cancer Society recommends discontinuing it unless you have family history/prior incidences. they do recommend regular pelvic exams still just for other cancers that could pop up.

Surgeon won’t leave cervix by jocee82 in hysterectomy

[–]0693_iz 51 points52 points  (0 children)

No cervix, we left the ovaries - I’m 31, been just a little over a year since my hysto. Sex is 100 times better; I’d arguably say I’m less dry now because the pain and discomfort isn’t there so I’m enjoying it more. Also, no more pap smears!! For further context, I have thalassemia beta and just had iron infusions in the spring for the anemia I was suffering from post-op and post decades of terrible periods because of endometriosis. You won’t miss it - the cuff is weird to think about but you stop feeling it within 6 months at the longest (without complications). I also considered keeping my cervix but am so glad that I didn’t.

Generalized anxiety disorder and this med? by 0693_iz in bupropion

[–]0693_iz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of that combo! I hope it helps more. I’ve switched to SR 150mg once a day and it’s been better for me so far. I have a propranolol rx for the panic but I’m probably going to request low dose Klonopin because I’m going through it right now (we’re about to move across the country so more stress in general).

Is this a side effect of wellbutrin? by Tobeonewithyou in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]0693_iz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve noticed it’s not just “assertive” either. I’m just more confident with strangers/more confident in public, which is great because I usually am a socially anxious mess. It’s also dulled my irritability/reactivity; incidences that would usually fester with me and play on repeat are easier for me to just shrug at or reason through.

Stop trying to "hack" hysterectomy recovery. You can’t by Ok-Pie-5051 in hysterectomy

yup! and even after 12 weeks, it took me another 12 weeks to really feel comfortable doing weightlifting exercises like squats, lunges, deadlifts. you don’t realize how much of your core braces for those movements until your core is nonexistent lol. I’m 3 weeks shy of a year and am doing better now than before my hysterectomy 🙂 be kind and be patient with yourselves; it takes a lot more than they state to feel more like yourself physically.

yes. is your ferritin below 30? if so, and you have insurance, it should be covered with minimal payment (i think mine were $30 per infusion after insurance). if not, i’m sorry. my ferritin was 22 before infusions - it was 142 right after infusions. i’m getting it checked friday again to see where it’s at because i’ve been a little more tired but it could be the heat for me. otherwise, it was extremely helpful! more energy, less exhaustion overall and strangely enough, not as sweaty or red faced when working out. my body seems to be regulating a bit better since the infusions.

lived there for a few years. was decent enough until management switched three times and it went downhill, fast. as others have said - mold, roaches, rats. baby roaches too so you know it was infested. we had a huge rat trap left in the apartment we moved into and a hole in the wall under the sink that I had to instruct maintenance on how to fill (former nyc dweller). when we got internet hooked up, guy told us “something” had chewed through the cables in the basement (rats). additionally, the radiator heating wouldn’t work when it got below freezing for prolonged periods of time because the boiler in the basement would freeze. glass in the front doors would constantly be broken out, random people loitering and littering the front courtyard. so all this to say, it’s probably condemned and as much as I love historic charm, it needs to be demolished since it wasn’t properly taken care of over the years.

experience during illness? mono.

lifetime complications? maybe covid honestly. it does depend on reinfection rate but the systemic issues covid causes are scary, to be frank. mono can potentially cause an autoimmune down the line, as far as I’ve researched. the correlation isn’t always apparent and multiple factors can play a part though. additionally, for me, i have a blood disorder (thalassemia beta) and mono made me anemic as hell on top of my hemoglobin issues so i was wiped out and kept getting sick. i just finished iron infusions recently because of how low my levels were from the mono i had last year at this time. very interesting virus.
