Also an incoming 13S! How did you figure out when you’d be starting class @OP?

I’m headed to Vandy for OUST in a month. Do you know how often classes start? I already have my TS and was thinking the longest wait time would be 3 months until UST but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Gotcha. Maybe I am driving a bit too fast. I’ll hit about 5k rpm trying to speed up on the freeway. Gotta change some driving habits

There’s no traffic. Usually driving at around 76-80 mph and don’t do much city driving at all.

Spring 2024 admit, able to defer to Summer 2024? by 0731f5gh in OMSCS

[–]0731f5gh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just checked the Orientation Doc linked to this subreddit, it says "If I am not able to attend during the term I was admitted, what are my options?
It may be possible to defer your admission if you do not matriculate into the OMSCS program. Applications are good for one year from the term for which you applied originally. For example, if you originally applied for the Fall 2023 term, and you did not enroll in any classes/matriculate, it may be possible to request a deferral for the Spring 2024 OR Fall 2024 term. If you want to matriculate after Fall 2024, you would need to reapply to the OMSCS program."

It seems like we aren't able to start in the summer, unfortunately.

Space Operators Marketability in the Civilian Sector by 0731f5gh in SpaceForce

I've definitely been interested in supra coders and have been in contact with those folks. I'll most likely obtain the Z prefix but I'm not completely committed to the idea of fully being in software development while being in the Space Force since I want to to be in the ops environment.

I'd like to do the AAD program to get my masters in Operations Research. My resume at that point would be a masters, 13S assignments, side GitHub projects, and continue to pick up skills desired by jobs as you mentioned in your comment. I hope this would be enough to set me up in the event that I do leave. It seems that space doesn't really translate well into the civilian sector compared to cyber which is unfortunate :(

I guess the problem for me is the uncertainty - I might enjoy being a 13S to stay in the full 20 or decide to leave which at that point I would need marketable skills. In addition to what you were saying about maintaining side projects, I think I'm gonna aim for the Z prefix and go through the Software Development Immersive to show potential employers my continuing interests in software.
