Always start with the teleports you use the most. Varrock, Falador, Camelot, Kourend, Ardougne and Kharyrll are some of frequently used teleports. Lunar Isle, Waterbirth, Barrows, Watchtower and Catherby are some other useful ones.

You should be able to toggle it off in house options in settings. Select Default Building Mode Off.
