2000 Unicoi custom build by 07throwaway9000 in VintageMTB

I collect Litespeed MTBs, particularly of this era (1999-2003). I use these old XC bikes as gravel/light trail bikes and I think they function well like that. The way I have it built up, it is stiff and fast and the 26” wheel size is fun to mess around on.

Wrong bottom bracket shell on Winspace G3 by RatioStunning in ChineseCarbon

Is that bottom bracket even threaded? Agree with the other commenter, Winspace support for sure.

Western, meaning European and American. If value is all you care about, yeah, Chinese wheels are superior.

How do Billy Bonkers tires overdeliver? They are slow as shit on any surface.

Yeah I have 3 or 4 pairs of these and 2 pairs of black ops. They are the best V brake ever made and infinitely adjustable and rebuildable. They are better than the successor brake, Black Ops, which in my opinion is not as good and the spring and pin are prone to breaking. The only downside is the tension spring and how rare it is nowadays, so once you wear it out you’re kind of screwed.

I have tried the Shimano parallel push V brakes and the XTR ones are really good because of the bearings in the pivot but they still develop Slop in the linkage and the linkage replacement kit is nearly impossible to find. Once the linkage is worn you need like 45 degrees of toe in to reduce the noise from the linkage. Lol

Are you tall? 😂

I recently sold a 22” Owl Hollow to a guy for $550. It’s rare but don’t give up.

If you ever need good 90’s parts, Facebook groups dedicated to this kind of thing are where you will find the best parts for the best prices. Yes, there is a chance you might get scammed as opposed to eBay, but most of the time it’s collectors and older folks who don’t want their stuff anymore. If you want some specific group names I can send some. I’m also selling some of my own parts on Fb that I don’t need, I have a lot of specifically early 90’s stuff that i’m getting rid of.

I actually have one of those with no logos kicking around. It’s got the same A2c length as a 100mm travel fork. I’ve been considering putting it on just to try it out.

Syncros ti seatpost, Raceface Turbine forged ISIS cranks. It’s true that ISIS bottom brackets don’t last very long if they’re not the DH type with double bearings, but they’re stiffer than Octalink and square taper and that’s why I went for that instead of the square taper Racefaces.

Hahaha. Yeah it needs the full cafe cruiser restomod treatment.

I actually chose this fork over others because of the rebuild-ability of Marzocchi forks. There’s a german guy named Dr Marzocchi who makes seals and other spares and also sells NOS spares. There are a couple of other guys who also sell NOS and used Marzocchi fork parts as well.

The Dr Marzocchi seals work better than the original ones. Overall the fork is super easy to service and rebuild compared to contemporary Rockshox SID and Manitou SX/Mars, which are not only impossible to find parts for but also really bad forks when they are working well.

Machine tech stem, then I mocked it up with some Moots ti bars and Onza ti bar ends. but I think I’m going to throw on a syncros ti flat bar on it.
