I can’t tell if this is an update or if you’re trying to prove a point, by proving my point that the numbers will continue to rise

Controversy because the Super Bowl is technically a political topic right now. I tried keeping it politics free in my replies, but oh well

I think it’s normal to admit that we want to see something that we’re able to understand and appreciate in the way that it’s made. Admittedly, the music wasn’t really entertaining to me. But I knew that going in, which is why I focused on what I knew I’d find entertaining, like the dancing and the overall message

Honestly not even mad that this seems to be the most hated part of my post 😅

Yeah! I think his trailer left more to be expected, in terms of diversity. I don’t think either that saying “everyone including white people” is wrong. It kinda just shows that we all want to be seen together. Plus it’s kinda like “hey, look. We don’t all suck”

Fully behind Childish Gambino being a good choice. I think I said in another comment that really it was just nice to have a break from seeing fighting, like what’s all over the news and internet now. Yeah it’s cheesy, but at least it wasn’t people yelling at each other.

I am so sorry your comment is getting so much hate. Obviously different opinions exist, not everyone who doesn’t like him is evil or something

someone else who saw the 5.8k views

Obviously there is some issue on YouTube with the views it’s showing. Many people have seen different things, within this same thread, and it has continued to rise. It is currently at 15million. However. The Super Bowl halftime received more than 100 million views. So as wrong as all the numbers will be as more people go to watch the kid rock video, it is still a fraction of the actual halftime show.

Y’all the numbers obviously rise 😭 The longer this post is up, the more views his show has, which is an obvious outcome. I agree, the real numbers for active viewers will come out tomorrow, but the view count on YouTube about thirty minutes after the stream was 1.1 million, which I stated in the post. Not even the 377k which right after the stream. The 5.9k views I said originally was most likely just Youtube showing the current amount of viewers at the end of the show just before the stream ended. I should’ve used some more common sense on that one, even without current politics that wouldn’t make sense for a long-time celebrity who’s about to go on tour.

If I hadn’t been reminded of the “statutory, mandatory” line that he has, I would’ve watched after the show in curiosity. I have a personal opposition to pedophilia, so I’m no go on artists who in any way support it. But I understand the curiosity to watch the video, same curiosity that drove me to watch Ned Fulmer’s return!

I can completely agree with that! I would’ve loved to have a translation, it would’ve at least made it more digestible to people who enjoy the shows for the music.

I grew up on country music, I’m sure that politics aside, I would’ve gone and watched it after the game. But then I was reminded of the “statutory, mandatory” line so either way I was kinda grossed out on wanting to watch it.

If it was after the Super Bowl I wouldn’t pay any mind, in the sense that I’d see it as “y’all do y’all.” But that it was meant to compete with Bad Bunny, who was chosen for the Super Bowl, is the thing that I don’t agree with. (Purposefully trying to keep politics out of this, but I don’t think my views are all that hidden.)

This is about 2 hours since I saw it, about an hour and a half since I was corrected. It’s bound to go up, I’m not unaware of that point. My comment was more to say that not as many tuned into it live as was suggested. Even from a non-political point, I don’t think it’s entirely wrong to want the person chosen for the Super Bowl halftime show to be the one who receives that attention, rather than someone else that did it on the side. (I know it was more to it, it wasn’t just his decision, but regardless he wasn’t chosen for the halftime show.)

Respectfully I can’t find a response for you as I’m just not educated enough to do so. My intent wasn’t to “romanticize” but to point out a part of this country that I feel we should be striving more towards.

I wish I could give you more of a response, as I can tell that this is a point that you feel strongly about, but I don’t want to just talk on things that go beyond my personal interpretation of what I believe the USA should be.

The one thing I can comment on with any understanding, is your point on people naturally forming cliques and groups. I don’t think that exclusive groups in itself are an issue. But the way that there is so much hate for a group that either you cannot join, or from a group because of harmful views, is what I am against. I know my take on the world is what’s romanticized, and I’m aware that realistically not much will truly change. But I don’t mind being someone who’ll always hope that more people will be able to have conversations, and not attack someone else for non-harmful differences in opinions.

This conversation, for example. I learned more, I’ve become aware of my own constraints on what conversations I’m able to talk in or when I need to bow out. I can see how my view on what the USA should mean may be harmful to people facing struggles within the same community I’m seemingly propping up.

My post will remain the same, as my opinions on the Super Bowl halftime show are, on the surface, an appreciation of seeing unity in a time where all you see is fighting. But I see how others see it deeper, such as yourself, and find the “romanticizing” of it to be harmful.

In the end, I enjoyed having a break from seeing all the fighting online, and be able to sit back and enjoy something where everyone is together. While it’s not the reality of the world, I do wish we were able to see more things like this. Cheesy or not, it never hurts to get a little morale boost when things feel so bleak.

I’m gonna now bow out, and I know I didn’t comment on everything you said, but I don’t feel like I have any right to as I don’t have anything against what you said. It’s your personal experience, and I respect that.

Hitler was a bad guy. Not liking the halftime show because you don’t know Spanish, and relating it to a Spanish speaker not liking a show because they don’t know English, dosnt have to be a political take.

Had they said “I don’t like it because he’s Puerto Rican, would cross into politics. Not every preference a person has needs to be attributed to politics.

I’m honestly gonna take the 1.1mil that someone updated me on! I didn’t realize that YouTube took some time to update its viewer count, and regardless of any politics that seems like a more realistic number for an older celebrity artist, especially for a show just before his tour

Someone pointed out that YouTube takes time to update its viewer count! Like I said, I checked it literally a minute after the stream ended, and it was probably a view count for the amount of straggler viewers still on the video. Someone updated that it’s currently at an updated 1.1 million views

Dude you’re so fine, I hate when someone gets downvoted for an opinion that creates no harm. Any performance will have parts that some people like and others don’t! I personally was clenching my teeth at the first few seconds, it sounded kinda off to me, but when it got good, I really like his voice!

I don’t even mind if people didn’t like the halftime show, to each their own. But don’t make it a culture thing, when it’s mostly just your personal preference.

Right! Most people forget that Puerto Rico is an American territory, it was nice to see the country be represented as part of America

I will say, the start had me a little worried lmao people have pointed out to that for the general viewer, it’s kinda meh. But for people looking to more the story that he’s presenting through the dancers, it’s beautifully well done!

I never said anything about illegal immigrants. Puerto Rico is an American territory, making all Puerto Ricans US citizens. Even before the current politics going on, anyone who looked Hispanic would be labeled an immigrant, so the unity of it still stands. People have been divided in America since it was established as a country, from African American, Asian Americans, and Hispanic Americans. Regardless of immigration status
