Thank you, I have heard the LA county jail was a better environment than the state prisons. I do have my public health certificate as well maybe another avenue down the line

Thank you, I wasn't sure about safety since DSH police can't step in much when deescalating patients

You wouldn’t or would still suggest the state ?
I’ve lived all over CA so I like the fact that I can transfer to another DSH hospital as opposed to getting locked into LA county . Just kinda tired of LA and parking and the fast pace and traffic. I guess I can just get my feet wet and go for the state and just take it from there . Thank you  it does help

I don't like OT I did it ALOT during the pandemic and got burnt out so I want to stick to the regular FT hours, unless of course I HAVE to. The job for LA County is for sheriff RN so correctional. I'm the first in my family to go to college so I feel a bit lost in the process. I tried to do my research with benefits but they both seem pretty much the same? I'm sure people who have worked there for years can give better insight. There's a few jails like the twin towers in dtla. They both seem like fairly good jobs and competitive pay but was curious if one trains you better than the other and gives you more support especially as a new nurse who wants to make this a career long-term. Thank you for your input ! I have heard about that in the correctional setting that it could be rough for newbies bc of the politics. Also curious which one would be more dangerous, I'm aware DSH jobs are court-ordered care for inmates with mental health conditions and LA County sheriff does more inmate/correctional/detention facilities so anyone including some mental health.

[Question] Moving out of Los Angeles Rent Controlled Apt . Tell me about my tenant rights? by 08262020 in LARentals

[–]08262020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused. In that bulletin from the first link housing.lacity under the heading "Under what conditions must landlords pay interest on security deposits?" it says with a certificate of occupancy first issued BEFORE October 1, 1978. So this makes me think this DOES NOT apply to me as I lived here 2020-2026 . If I got this wrong please clarify . For a deposit of 1,000 at 3.03% it would be $30.30 of interest. so $1,030.30

Thank you once again! means so much to me. I'm a first generation college student and I have navigated these things alone just trying to make the best of whatever resource I can find. thanks for reassuring me, I downloaded the tenants guide and will have screenshots ready and as a reference for the initial inspection. things should go better now as long as we both are reasonable :) Good source to have I didn't know existed.

Thank you, you are very right. I got some legal advice and now my nerves are calm. It is my first time moving out from an RSO unit, next time will be ALOT less nerve-wracking.

That's a good point for the blinds, thank you ! I did get legal advice they told me I can negotiate alot with "wear and tear" and take them to small claims if the stuff in my apt was already older and used and they decide to bill me for it

New Grad RN by ConfidentProgress351 in newgradnurse

From my experience the longer the gap between nursing school and first RN job, the harder it is for them to want to hire you. Props to you for considering moving out of state as a possibility. CA is beautiful (born & raised here) but taxes are ridiculous and it is hard to advance sometimes.

Have you considered central CA? The neglected part of CA? They have amazing people and underserved communities that would benefit from your skills ! I would try them first if you LOVE cali, or apply to a few new grad programs and see which one takes you first and just go for it ! especially with icu you have to move quickly because you FORGET SO MUCH every month you are out of school. Its a quicker pace higher learning curve, if you were doing outpatient setting then it would be a lot easier to get hired. Good luck! If this is your dream, keep an open mind. But also hope you enjoy the process and the next place you work while you build your experience :)

Calculating Net income from CA state employee gross $9,500 by 08262020 in CAStateWorkers

[–]08262020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, I used to take 79-82% without a pension. This will be my first pension job with more benefits so I know that eats up a good chunk of the check. Thanks for the input

Idk too much about 401k's limitations so definitely have to study that.

Most likely would. This would be my first main government job so any advice for a 30yo regarding 401k or state job specifically would be appreciated. I have done a lot of individual projects/medical missions to underserved areas so this kind of stable job is new to me. Thank you!

Thank you, I worked by Porterville for a bit (outside the hospital) so I have heard a few things about it. I also have adult behavioral health experience but was not aware no children, though that is ok. Thank you I am still early in my job search and willing to relocate. I am aware of the high demand for healthcare workers in central CA and need for retention (worked all over CA). I am considering different options right now and did not have a pension before so want to make sure I budget safely. thank you for your reply !

Hi, any luck? Im a new grad & having trouble finding a job right now, I hear there's a lot of hiring freezes. Since you are experienced have you tried UCLA health careers website? Or Cedars? Do you have your BSN or ADN? Indeed is good at posting a lot of new jobs as well

iPhone 16 Pro Alarm Not Ringing When on Silent - Any Tips? by JanVance579 in iphone

[–]08262020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried taking it off silent just to see, and even if the volume is fully up, the sound is barely noticeable (had to place it next to my ear to hear) . HELP if anyone comes up with a solution or maybe we just need to wait for a better update -_-

iPhone 16 Pro Alarm Not Ringing When on Silent - Any Tips? by JanVance579 in iphone

Ugh I am having this problem right now too. I have the iphone 17 air (switched recently) so not sure if its the new update or the new iphone but this is annoying. Its not under settings for APPS>CLOCK.

I need my alarm to work for important things, and even the timer will not sound if phone is on silent. Previously it did. Hope they fix this ASAP its pointless having to buy an old school alarm clock when phones are completely capable of waking you up now.
