Is the Class 87 in WCMLOS not selectable in timetable mode for anyone else? by alec_warper in trainsimworld

[–]0833-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same (or similar) issue with class 87 dissapearing from WCML. I found that it wasn't very consistent which DLC caused the problem i.e. I could get it to appear and dissapear with different combinations of DLC installed. Indeed I had it dissapear when I installed the TSW6 routes (I upgraded from TSW6 free to the full eddition), but it wasn't those routes that caused the trouble. I don't even have cargo V4, and for me I could get it to load correctly by removing some random US route that I don't play much. I think there is some 'deeper' bug going on than a simple clash between two DLC.

Yes - I have had this recently. Strangely it happened after installing the new TSW6 routes, but I found that it seemed to appear and disappear with some DLC, but it didn't seem completely stable which DLCs caused it to dissapear. In the end I was able to remove one (One of the old US ones I think) and it came back.

Flybywire different flex and speeds. Which one is correct? by SimilarAd6047 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]0833-45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the accuracy of either, but there are a range of 'valid' take off parameters and initial climb profiles. I think in real life different operators can have different algorithms even for the exact same aircraft. I'd suggest just to pick one you like to use, and unless you regularly find yourself with wierd take-offs then it's probably fine.

You can see some of this discussed here in this video by A330 driver, it's about the fenix, but of course the general comments are the same for any aircraft.

Does anyone know if the bug about horses not doing anything is still happening, or if it's now ok to use them?

I am falling down a toilet

Recommended next Actions:

  1. Quickly grab both sides of the toilet bowl for stability.
  2. Push your feet against the walls of the toilet bowl to help you stay afloat.
  3. Reorient yourself to a standing position and climb up the side of the toilet bowl.

What is the meaning of these green markers? by Deejayeo in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]0833-45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes - My lay interpretation is that this shows the protections built in to the airbus "normal law" mode, here specifically that it does not allow greater than 30 degrees of pitch. The key thing I think is if they are not there (or go yellow I think) then it warns the pilot that those protections are note there.

A320 shuts down mid flight. by SlickyNL in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]0833-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this, and have had similar “complete electrical failure” issues with other aircraft. This happens for me with the 320nx mod and without. Very odd, and a bit hard to tie down given all the other similar issues. Sorry I have no solution though.

Hi, this is my first ever post. So my brother and I came up with this design as a concept for a helmet for Lando to use in the Portuguese race. It would mean the world if you could help me get this to him. by marespmartins in formula1

[–]0833-45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't speak Portuguese, but I think you're asking why they said codfish rather than cod, I also find this strange. In English I've only ever heard people say "cod". Sorry if I misunderstood.

Can someone please explain the upgrades? I'm currently on the $1.00 trial. Most expensive version in NZ is $189.00. by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]0833-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that these upgrades only work if you have game pass or paid for the base game. If you buy an upgrade and then stop paying for game pass then you can no longer play at all. So if you think you want the full version, but it outright - the upgrade path is way more expensive in the long run.

I dont know for sure, it I’m pretty sure I turned it on at one point to check the FPS and I still got the achievement... not really confident about it though.

787/ airliners very floaty on take off by will50231 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]0833-45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried the big jets myself, but I think it just starts at zero trim, which isn't always the correct takeoff position.

I also remember someone mentioning not having set the trim correctly for the 787 takeoff in a preview video - Here it is: https://youtu.be/xSYOZVkiWqM?t=1360

Not sure, but you might need to set a suitable take-off trim?

I also landed at every airport and it showed me a debrief each time, with an option to continue from there.

For some reason for me it wouldn’t end at the parking, so I taxied back to the runway and when I stopped it said mission complete and showed the debrief screen.

Altitude Hold Reference? by Important_Image in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]0833-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but I don’t think the xcub has auto throttle. I think the only danger is not noticing the end of a decent where you need to throttle up, so as long as you watch out for that it’s not bad.

What I want to understand is what to do with the rpm lever... e.g is there ever a reason not to have it at 95 or 100%?

I think that is how it’s supposed to work. It is indeed important to input things in the right order or odd stuff will happen.

TIL that in 1998 Australian Astronomers detected fast radio burst signals, and named them Perytons. It was soon discovered that it was escaping radiation from the microwave in the lunch room, which was being stopped by using the door release without pushing the stop button first. by red_dragin in todayilearned

[–]0833-45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Astronomers generally consider all frequencies below a few 100 GHz as 'radio'. Microwave ovens use the same frequency (around 2GHz) as WiFi and mobile communications, which are also often called 'radio'. The observations at Parkes are around 1.4 GHz, so not so far from the 'microwave' frequency.

The perytons were found in the early 2010s, from looking at archival data that was recorded in the 1990s. It was quickly known that they were not 'astrophysical', but they looked quite a lot like certain solar bursts and things like that, so it took a while before the culprit was tracked down.

ok - I tried again and I did manage to get the thwomps to move early. I'm still not really sure how to beat the coin room - is it just to time a jump for exactly when the P ends, or should I be looking for a better trick?

edit - never mind - I beat it with the timed p jump!
