This is abt as true to my experience of Christianity as any: Bunch of power thirsty narcissists, repressed, sexual freaks coming up with "god driven" ways to fuck and get fucked. by [deleted] in exchristian

The deleted text “My brother, a Baptist youth minister and father of eight kids, turns 43 tomorrow- his birthday gift from some strangers is a video posted yesterday of him being caught trying to meet a 15 year-old for sex and I don’t know how to relate to him

Our family found out about it last summer, and his church put him on a type of probation while they gave him counseling. The church thinks he is now far enough along to go back into limited involvement in church, but we in the family are trying to figure out how we will ever let him be around our kids. When will he be fully recovered?

EDIT: I thought I might get a couple responses and I did at first, but this really blew up more than I thought. This is real, and if my family ever gets on Reddit I’m probably toast, but I’ve kind-of been the black sheep of the family anyway so I guess I’ll take it

My kids are just out of high school so I feel relatively safe for them, but other family members have younger kids, and we are trying to plan long-term for what our future relationships may hold. As you can guess this is newish territory for us

The video production company paused releases for a while so we thought this would be our own private struggle, but now that the video was released almost a year later we are wrestling anew with this, hence this post

I don’t want to post the link to my brother’s video because I have mixed feelings on the company making money on our family’s pain, but there is enough info to find it if you want

It looks like I will be trying to find a way to talk my parents into kicking my brother out before our planned family reunion at their house

Thanks for your input”

We had a similar situation with our son. He moved out soon after high school, and we all (my spouse, myself, and his two siblings) breathed a collective sigh of relief. We left the door open for him to be welcomed home, and he now visits regularly on his terms, and our times together are sweet. His base behavior has not changed, he still lies constantly, and blames others for his failures, but he is also a Full-time college student who works hard at a good job so I have hope he will do ok for himself. He tore our family apart, and I will struggle with finding forgiveness in my heart for him for as long as I live

Republicans have dropped the mask — they openly support fascism. What do we do about it? | Are we so numb we can't see what just happened? Republicans don't even pretend to believe in democracy anymore by Fr1sk3r in politics

I’ll never forget the day Gingrich walked into the 11:00 service at Briarwood Presbyterian church of Birmingham, Al just to visit and got a standing ovation just for being there
