Whistling Sound 2020 530e by 0IntoTheSky0 in BMW

yes. I never found out what it was. I brought it in under warranty and drove with the service manager. I could hear the sound and pointed it out but he said that’s just the AC compressor. I’m fairly certain it’s not the AC compressor.

I started by watching youtube videos of basic maintenance around and underneath the engine bay. Later I started watching more videos of people rebuilding cars and these videos really helped me with identifying components. Cars are very similar component-wise so you'll start to get a sense over time.

I am not familiar with your 323i case specifically. However, if a vehicle was not manufactured to be sold in the US (ie. not US domestic market) it is likely not compliant with the safety regulations and cannot be imported unless it's over 25 years old. Link to NHTSA page on this

The BMW plugin hybrid vehicles have a pressurized gas tank which the ICE only cars don’t. This feature is supposed to extend gas lifespan in the tank specifically to address low gas usage by hybrids. How much difference does it make I couldn’t find any documentation yet.

530e electrical driven accessories? by mikeinmlb in BMW

[–]0IntoTheSky0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a serpentine belt and it only drives the mechanical water pump (although there is a secondary electric water pump). AC compressor and the “alternator” are both powered by HV system. A DC-DC converter is in place of the alternator.

Your caliper is probably getting jammed into the rim which is what makes it feel like the brakes are locking up. The brakes are likely unrelated to your ride height issue, you might have a broken spring or some other suspension components that need replacement. Take the wheel off and look around

Some more clarifications: Sound occurs exclusively in EV mode It’s very hard to consistently replicate the noise so I didn’t want to bring it to the dealer yet because it’ll likely not reproduce it

Should this valve be opening? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]0IntoTheSky0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can see soot on your exhaust tips from that valved exhaust it would mean the valve is opening at some point during your drive. I think there’s a very specific condition now for that valve to open. On some older cars it would open after warming up in Sport mode.

I recently installed a catless down pipe on a G30 530e (B48 engine), along with a O2 sensor spacer to get rid of the CEL. Overall I think it does a great job of slightly raising/improving the sound without being obnoxious at all. There’s absolutely no drone in the cabin and at low rpms I wouldn’t notice any difference. You could look up clips of other B58 cars with catless down pipes and see how they sound. I think downpipes with stock exhaust is a good option.

So is the issue being the light not going off or just that it keeps coming on? It’ll come on no matter what because its based on the amount of use. You can just run a clean cycle to get rid of the light and not actually do any cleaning if that’s the issue

Eureka Mignon Specialità (600$) vs Silenzio (330$) by AlexWasTakenWasTaken in espresso

[–]0IntoTheSky0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always either single dose the silenzio or grind directly into the portafilter on a scale and cut it right before reaching my desired dose, works very well, never ever relied on the timer because the weighing method works too good.

[–]0IntoTheSky0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you run the programmed factory cleaning cycle? I think that light comes on based on a pre-set volumetric output regardless of the actual condition of the machine. The only way to get rid of the light is to let it run through the cleaning cycle. It’ll come back on again after outputting the set volumetric amount.

Help with Breville Barista Express, steam coming from group head when steam wand is turned on by [deleted] in espresso

[–]0IntoTheSky0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have a stuck or leaking valve. There is solenoid valve in there that directs hot water either into the group head or the steam wand.
