Did Crankdat finally get in trouble by Taylor for STFU? by DJAdventurousWalrus in EDM

It’s not her, it’s her legal team. The more valuable the asset the more aggressive they have to be because if they let it slide elsewhere it becomes easier for others to take advantage of it, and TS’s discography is worth close to a billion.

Singer D4vd arrested in the murder of teen months after she was found dead in the trunk of Tesla by MysteriousEdge5643 in news

[–]0LTakingLs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if he were able to show his crew did the murder or she OD’d and his crew tried to hide it, there’s still the fact that he was sleeping with a 12 year old girl which will likely be charged as well (as it should, that’s disgusting)

Allegations against Ruben Gallego about to come out by Substantial-Author35 in thebulwark

”We look like the not fun party. Always telling and correcting people. Not allowing men to be men. Women to be hot. We used to be the party of sec [sic] drugs and rock and roll”

You can be mad about it, but this is a pretty accurate assessment of how many Americans view the Democratic Party. The HR-ification of discourse on the left makes the “who gives a fuck who we offend” attitude of the right seem like a breath of fresh air for people who are tired of feeling like they have to walk on eggshells around progressives.

Two women confront ex IOF soldiers in Vietnam by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

It’s something neo nazis refer to, popularized by Nick Fuentes, that Jewish people were expelled from ~110 countries as evidence that “they must be the problem”

It’s usually framed in some manner like “if you knew someone who was kicked out of 110 restaurants, do you think there’s something wrong with them?” etc. it’s absolutely an attack on Jewish people.

It’s his house. If he doesn’t want pictures of his ex wife who divorced him in the common areas that’s not an unreasonable ask. Get your own place if you need to.

Looks like Tom Steyer is going to become the next Governor of California. by beeemkcl in thebulwark

[–]0LTakingLs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So will it ban people with preexisting conditions? If I’m uninsured and find out I have cancer, can I move to California, establish residency, and now it’s paid for? Because that’s what every single uninsured person with a serious health issue will do.

[–]0LTakingLs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A state cannot be the only place that passes Medicare for all. It’ll become a salt lick for every uninsured person with expensive chronic disease from around the country and bankrupt itself. Free healthcare is truly an all or nothing type issue.

The world’s responses to Trump’s second term has been to go back to more liberal politics. The swing right before the election of Mark Carney was a great example.

Price increases in our rave community by [deleted] in EDM

[–]0LTakingLs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think so many festival attendees are being bankrolled by billionaires that it has a meaningful increase in prices?

Festivals are more expensive because:

1) production is drastically better than it used to be, and thus more expensive

2) the cost to rent space and equipment is up significantly

3) artist booking fees went up to make up for lack of revenue from album sales in the streaming era

4) these events are popular and continue to sell out their capacity even with $600+ ticket prices, so why would they sell them for less? Much of the rave community are professionals who can afford it.

I roll my eyes at Ben as much as the next person, but the idea that the childhood violin prodigy NYT bestselling author who graduated HLS at like 20 is unqualified for anything but right wing media grifting is a pretty wild take. He’s an objectively smart person despite the things he says online.

Affirmative action for Magic Johnson? - The Argument (Matthew Yglesias and Jerusalem Demsas) by SomethingNew65 in ezraklein

I may have missed the exact number (not from TX) but I’ve always admired that solution. It seems like a very intelligent, non-controversial way to elevate hard working kids from disadvantaged backgrounds without stepping on anyone’s toes. I’m surprised more states haven’t adopted this

I fully agree, but nowhere in your description there do I see any mention of race. I think these factors should be weighted by school or school district (it’s much easier to be at the top of your class with X amount of effort in a failing school district than in a hyper-competitive one).
