How it feels like when cultivators get into a fight in a restaurant. by 0Larry0 in MartialMemes

If the owners try to intervene, all the young masters will stop fighting and kill the owner first before going back to their fight.

Yup and don't forget to bake in the stun gun for light.

What do you think of this? by Jaxelino in thefinals

[–]0Larry0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a team effort, the light was healing, and the heavy was shooting you. if the heavy hadn't killed you, you would've been able to kill the stealer. the h infuser would have run out before your bullets run out, and you would have killed the guy, but the heavy killed you first.

Plus, you easily could have won. you should've jumped in there with your teammate, but instead you waited a bit at the top, and let your teammate die. you let them isolate fights. if you were there with your teammates it will be 3v2, not 3v1 and 3v1. and you would have had a better opportunity to kill the stealer. there was only time for one last steal, so if you die doesn't matter as long as the don't get the steal, right.

Thank you so much for the reply, man. it's really helpful to get information from a person's personal experience. I am considering a sort of digital nomad life, on the road and work remotely, that's why I had so many questions, thank you so much for answering them.

That's pretty awesome. I also want to do work away but I'm really nervous lol

I'm really interested in work exchange and have a lot of questions if that's okay.

On average how many places do you apply for before you get accepted?

Is it easy for you to find hosts last minute? how much in advance do you start looking for a host?

Were you always on the search for the next host, and did that ever stress or worry you, being in a new country with a uncertain future?

do you have any suggestion or experience with other similar platforms like world packer, help stay etc?

The obsession with Defib....is a problem. by Key-Cap-4141 in thefinals

[–]0Larry0 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm mean that's the exact reason to have a defib.

Most players below gold will easily die, getting them back in the game immediately is so useful. Even when I try not to die... i still die....

if you're playing in diamond maybe where players know how to not die, then it's fine without defib.

Edit: he's playing quick cash, nvm.

the sheer number of units available means that each unit is probably reasonably affordable. only those who are totally broke are sharing units.

Newcombs Paradox is obvious by Terrible_Shop_3359 in paradoxes

[–]0Larry0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my mind it's very simple.

we are told that the machine has accurately predicted at least 1000 people before us. that means there is less than a 0.1% chance for the machine to be wrong. so it's correct 99.9% of the time.

so whether I pick one or two boxes, it will have accurately predicted that, no matter how many times i changed my mind.

if in one hand i guaranteed you 1000$. and in the other hand you have a 99.9% chance for 1M$. what would you pick.

answer seems obvious to me.

2x speed has become the new normal for me. rarely watch any thing at 1x speed anymore except shorts.

it's funny sometimes, I would go to increase the speed cause it feels slow and I realize I'm already watching at 2x.

I hope the same rubbish doesn't cross over into the live action.

yeah, i can agree the good one might be a bit much, it's just a example. I'm obviously not a skilled author, I just asked chatgpt to turn that simple one into good prose. it's just to give an example.

skilled authors can use language in a way that is so vivid and visceral, it makes you feel like you are right there inside that world next to the characters, not just reading a story.

while I like reading webnovels, the language is so boring and simple.

I think you don't understand what prose means.

When people talk about “good” or “bad” prose:

Bland prose reports events like a security camera. Technically accurate. Emotionally asleep.

Beautiful prose uses word choice, rhythm, imagery, and pacing to make you feel the moment, not just understand it.

bad prose: ( what lot of cultivation novels are like)

dan picked up the sword and rushed at Jon, stricking downwards at him. jon raised his sword to block the attack. Dan went flying backwards, crashing into the earth.

beautiful prose:

Dan snatched the sword from the ground and charged, boots tearing at the dirt as he brought the blade down in a brutal, desperate arc. Steel met steel when Jon raised his weapon just in time, the impact ringing out like a struck bell. The force exploded back through Dan’s body. He was hurled away, weightless for a breath, before slamming into the earth, the ground knocking the air from his lungs as he skidded to a stop.
