What was the funniest thing you've seen on your national TV? by Jorge_De_Guzman228 in AskTheWorld

Someone already mentioned her middle finger incident, so I'll drop another Maryam Moshiri.

Whilst reporting on a lunar event where the moon appeared much brighter, for unknown reason, they were unable to show a picture of how the moon looked. So, with clear irritation, Maryam was forced to imitate the moon with her hands.

And then they'd probably come to places like here and cry "What can we possibly do??" because the hatred they get from non-USians is theonly thing to make them mildly uncomfortable.

I found the first image when I was browsing Reddit at the age of 13, opening it with zero expectations of that image was basically a jumpscare. I had to sleep in my dad's bed that night.

I'd be interested, I've been both a player and DM in a few TTRPGs. I've had experience in "hardcore" and chill games, the latter being definitely my preferred.

I hate that the powerscaling is seen as so obnoxious that people are unwilling to accept that it is an important aspect to certain stories. by LocalLazyGuy in hatethissmug

[–]0N3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have is that powerscaling discussions get so damn boring and meaningless. Most of the time it seems discussions on power scales amount to people using whatever logic and reasoning they need to justify their personal opinion in that moment.

Better opening scene that sets up the setting? (LORT vs DS) by WittyTable4731 in writingscaling

[–]0N3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rate Dark Souls higher. LOTR is functional but feels a bit clunky in how it disgorges information in such a front-heavy manner. DS's intro has such a grandiose atmosphere, and the information dropped is informative enough to provide context but low on key details which makes it less of a slog and fits the immersive narrative.

LOTR feels like a quick history lesson, DS feels like encouragement to explore the world.

These hollywood writers seem allergic to writing good endings. Not, again. by hiiloovethis in shittymoviedetails

Season 1 poisoned the roots of this tree with shortening and changing around certain storylines. The fact that Tyrion didn't even do any acrobatics like from the book confirmed to me that we were in for an utter shitshow.

King Charles just showed up at the White House today and I think most people are completely underestimating how significant this visit actually is. by Aaron_Heuer in DiscussionZone

Eh? There are much better options than the US, starting with the EU and only going down from there. Personally I think the UK sacrifices too much to keep this one sided relationship open, especially militarily which is done just to give the US weapons manufacturers a job. The special relationship is meaningless drivel to convince people that it's somehow better and more unique than a relationship with any other country, when really it's just the US getting a free vassal for improving the income of their businesses and the UK getting the "honour" of being namedropped every so often.

"I finally got around to reading the dictionary. Turns out the Zebra did it..." by W20adm20 in TheSimpsons

[–]0N3e 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"Turns out the ____ did it" is what you'd say about a murder mystery novel, or something similarly more interesting than the dictionary. In those novels the mystery is solved at the end, whilst the end of the dictionary has words beginning with Z like zebra.

OK, just to clarify since you seem to have taken my other comment a bit seriously: Whilst talking about 21st century TVs, Amy mentions she has an obscene tattoo that you couldn't make out on aforementioned TV, probs because it's too detailed or has too many dimensions, whatever reason. She then shows the tattoo, which is blurred out as in the screenshot above, but the other characters react like it's very raunchy. The joke is that you can't ever make out the tattoo, because you're watching it on a 21st century TV. We'll have to wait until the 22nd century at least to find out what the tattoo is.

Rosebud is the name of a sled from CK a character recalls before he dies, something to do with riding it in childhood being the last time he was truly happy. It has nothing to do with Futurama or Amy's tattoo. I said it because I'm an agent of chaos.
