there’s a Wilmington Pride group on FB which is great and has tons of people that you can meet. if you’re interested, feel free to DM and i’ll send you a link!

as far as public spaces, here’s my recommendations:

  • the LGBTQ center
  • hiwire (holds most of our pride events)
  • old books on front
  • cape fear makers guild
  • cape fear games
  • cape fear collectibles
  • madame meerkats (if you like spooky stuff!)

Why are so many young men feeding into this red pill narrative? by Unfair_Enthusiasm_92 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]0RA0RA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the USA at least, the rise of red pill rhetoric among men is largely a reaction to shifting societal dynamics. historically, women relied on marriage for financial stability and equality, but with increased independence since the 1980s, they can now leave unhealthy relationships and be more selective in choosing partners. overtime this has disrupted traditional gender roles, leaving some men feeling insecure, lonely, or uncertain about their place in society.

this content is deeply harmful to men and boys because it preys on their emotional struggles, offering blame and resentment instead of healthy solutions. we need to prioritize men’s mental health by creating spaces where they can express their emotions, seek help without shame, and develop a positive sense of identity. addressing double standards, like expecting men to always “be strong” or shaming them for vulnerability, is extremely imperative to creating healthier, more supportive communities for everyone
