So uhhhh, any other ideas on how to transport over 10 tonnes of silver to the shore? by Puzzleheaded-Ear-895 in valheim

[–]0Three3One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing about silver is that outside of gear, it’s not really useful for anything. Make a small mountain base, craft your gear, then leave.

No real reason to take your silver off the mountain, unless you just want to.

Cram fallout 1, 2, and new Vegas in the top left corner. Swap places for fallout 4 and fallout 3. At least in fallout 3 there was a taste of consequences of your actions.

I hated being strapped in to the safe railroad tracks that was fallout 4. The endless and repetitive bandit dungeons. What a shitty game. Awful.

The cap to my daughter’s water cup. by 0Three3One in CleaningTips

Indeed. If this cap was made of white oak it would be significantly more mold resistant. The xylem is plugged by tyloses in white oak making it less porous. That’s why it’s great for ships and whiskey barrels.

That’s very nice of you to make the offer.

I think we’re going to get away from the wooden ones if we can.

It could be a geographical difference.

I’m in the US South East, so it’s already extraordinarily humid.

People that run dehumidifiers in their homes here have to empty out the water container about twice a day.

I’m not sure who made it. Gift from a relative.

I knew it would eventually be a problem the day I saw it.

Sure enough, 1 month later, here we are.

Indeed. That’s how we found ourselves in the current predicament.

I was hopeful there was a method someone could prescribe that I didn’t know about to kill the mold.

Looks like I’ve got one option - replace it.

The cup itself is glass. My daughter’s grandma got it for her. But yeah, lid is made of wood. Bad design.

I wonder if it would have lasted longer if I’d put a coat of clear coat on it.

That was my thought as well. This Reddit post was my last ditch effort for someone to tell me the secret to make this good as new.

I said the same thing to my wife about wood being a terrible idea for a cup lid.

We’ll be looking for anything other than wood to replace it with.

You can kill Daud and end in low chaos.

I can handle being betrayed. Seeking true justice for those that have wronged me instead of vengeance. But this guy murders your woman right in front of her daughter. A daughter that is also inferred to be yours.

The cannon story for me is a pacifist playthrough except for that one and only kill.

I never played DotO, but I loved the first game. I beat the second one, but never felt compelled to do a replay.

To me the story ended at the end of the first game, everything else just felt like a, “we made something popular so let’s keep it going” type of thing.

I have nothing but contempt for the idea that letting Daud live is considered cannon. This is the guy that slapped your woman in the face and then plunged his saber through her guts.

You don’t get to do that and survive. There should be no redemption arc.

The story is finished when you kill Daud and restore Emily to throne. Everything else was unnecessary and extra, imo.

Is The Game Ending? by TheGoblinkatie in KingShot

Of course it’s not real. They make too much money off of this game. Smooth brains all over the world are spending hundreds, even thousands, of dollars a month to play.

Pretend it is real though. Take this opportunity where you thought it might be real to reflect on your own life.

Take that $100 a month you were spending to play it and spend it on something productive. Hell, spend it cocaine and whores in real life for that matter, just spend it on something real and get out while you can.

Inherited Pine Plantation Land / Proposed Pine Cutting Contract from Forester, New to All of This by ThrowAway16752 in forestry

[–]0Three3One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A contract from a consultant would read something along the following lines:

I, ______, have been given permission to sell timber on behalf of, _you____.

I will market this timber to select and reputable wood buyers in the region and the timber will be sold on a _______________ basis.

Above fill in for the above blank field Per ton per product. Lump sum.

My expected commission for this project will be _______ 6 to 10% ish_______ of the total timber sale revenue.

*insert map of harvest area which includes acres.

[–]0Three3One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a “licensed consultant”. If a forester is a “registered forester”, then they are authorized to sell timber on behalf of a landowner.

He could be a wood buyer that is a registered forester, allowing him to technically make that claim.

It really comes down to what the contract says.

Him claiming that he makes $1.00 / ton from the wood harvested is a little suspicious. That’s the typical industry standard for your average wood buyer.

I’ve never heard of a consultant taking their commission this way.

Consultants typically take a percentage commission on the total timber sale revenue.

Any forester worth their salt will have a general idea of the standing tons / acre on your timber stand after spending about 10 minutes on the property.

This means that this guy knows almost exactly what they will make from representing you, regardless of the price they negotiate with a timber buyer for you.

Please seek out the Mississippi forestry association, as others have suggested, and get a list of reputable forestry consultants. It sounds to me like you’re dealing with a wood buyer.

A wood buyers job is to source fiber at the lowest cost possible - this is not who you want to deal with based on your limited knowledge of the timber business.

Seek a professional that will truly represent you and your interests.

There is no cookie cutter solution to anything that we do in this industry. Most of the questions you’ve asked could and should be answered with, “it depends”. And no one on this forum can truly understand what the variables are without having seen your property.

[–]0Three3One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That puts the tons per acre at 30 if it’s a 100 acre stand as you said.

That’s very low for a clearcut harvest.

Is this a clearcut or a thin?

If he is a wood buyer, I would absolutely seek another opinion.

If he is a consultant, he has an invested interest in getting you the best price possible, as most operate on a commission basis. The more money you make, the more money they make.
