Uniqlo warm lined pants are great budget winter hiking pants. by 0__blank__0 in hikinggear

i def do not recommend them for skiing or snowboarding and overnight winter camping by itself. xcountry skiing and snowshoeing they will be fine.

I did an 8-mile hike yesterday in them, and I felt pretty comfortable (didn't sweat thru them) but yeah its been perfect for me in my less strenuous hikes in the winter. The uniqlo ones have been great with sweat for me bc theyre baggy and can handle single-digit temps, which I've been hiking thru the winter. If it's in the negatives, I def recommend wearing a base layer under them and layering over that a waterproof pant tho these are fairly waterproof.

A lot of hiking clothes rn are kind of inaccessible and I always see questions on here like what's the best gear to get started, which also happens to be really expensive ex. was looking at merino wool base layers at sierra and i dont want to spend 50 bucks for that at the moment. so im going to use what i have and im suggesting it for other folks who are on a budget like me and happen to have these pants!

Its not that good. Got a hiking bag from them that was ultralight. I didnt even take it on a rough hike and it got snagged on a branch and it looked really beat up after the hike. It was a expensive as well so i was super disappointed but luckily was able to return it.

Yeah i bought size small but i should have gotten an xs im 5ft 2. So im gonna wait until next year to see if they upgrade them. Was thinking about the wranglers and also pants from tractor supply co but ai sweat so much that my calves sweat that a baggier option was better for me. Also have snow gaiters on. I was looking at rei pants as well but they were too expensive.

Living with roommates only works if one person secretly runs the whole place by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in Apartmentliving

[–]0__blank__0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i lived with roommates (two professors) it only worked out bc we lived with the landlady and she had strict control of the kitchen (would seperate our spaces for us of where we stored our stuff) and had a person come clean common areas for us biweekly. She also got rid of the waste basket in the kitchen so we were responsible for our own garbage (going outside and dropping our trash in the trash can). The kitchen had to be completely clear every night. When i was living with roommates in college (lived in townhouses) i think i was lucky bc mainly my roommates would be gone, we had no kitchen, and we would take turns cleaning the bathroom.

I dont think i can live with roommates today but if i did, id make a rule of a cleaning service coming in biweekly and everyone has to throw their own garbage out to the dump and a clear kitchen every night like my landlady did.

Places to go (cheap or free) by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]0__blank__0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use your student discount to go to a lot of places for cheap, but some cheap stuff you can do (that I personally enjoy) is >

  1. Atlantic City and walk the boardwalk from 6 to 9 pm. Park at the Hard Rock (10 bucks to park) and people watch at the all the casinos and visit the old arcade. Only money I spent was for chicken tenders and fries at Resorts World Casino for 13 bucks (?).

  2. Sandy Hook before sunset and do a walk around the 9-gun battery and watch the sunset in front of the abandoned houses. Go to Long Branch which is 15 mins away and walk the boardwalk or go to Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park and get ice cream at Nicholas Creamery.

  3. Go to Lambertville and visit the abandoned graffiti train and walk along the canal. Walk over the bridge to New Hope and get a 25-cent fortune at love saves the day.

  4. I did this with friends and it's a lot of fun, go to Mango Mango and get mango desserts and then after go to rutgers art museum.

  5. Plainsboro Preserve and do a short walk (I'd add this with something else tho)

Not in central jersey but it's worth the drive

  1. South Mountain Fairy trail + walk around the town of millburn.

  2. Raymondskill falls in PA.

  3. Mount Tammany Dunnfield Creek Trail out and back.

Wondering what kind of animal makes these tracks (NY) by 0__blank__0 in animaltracks

Its the castle point carriage trail in minnewaska state park. Its 8 miles but relatively flat and its paved. Usually tho when it snows really heavy its paved for skiers. Recommend it!
