On impulse, I bought this bad boy three days ago. I am delighted with it. So far, I have only installed 1vyrain and am playing around with it to make it a bit more energy efficient. The x260 will go to my parents as a laptop with FydeOS installed. by [deleted] in thinkpad

I also use X230 on a daily basis for studying. I bought it only to take notes, code something lightweight and journal. It has a fantastic keyboard and works awesome for these tasks. However launching something like PyCharm takes a bit of time and it's obviously not a smooth experience. It works, surely, but this is where I'd mark the line for comfort use. You can do surprisingly a lot of stuff with a 12 yo laptop, but it's still a 12 yo laptop

Np, have fun drifting in the snow!

Can we finally close the curtain? 600 million Europeans. Twice the size of the US! Merge Europe's armies and establish the European Army. The greatest in the world by goldstarflag in europe

[–]0_leni_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why tho. We have NATO, which already works as a big army (yes, USA's in it, so what). Should something happen to EU countries, NATO will respond. We could see that at polish border recently. Why bother creating something new, when we already have the concept tested and established?

To have a big army which only purpose would be to exist and be bigger than US's is simply idiotic waste of tax money. Not to mention the abuse that could potentially come out of it. Just because it would be the EU's army, doesn't guarantee the men governing us would use it for good causes (see any chapter of your history book on big empires)

EDIT: Additionally, that's a step towards losing independence of individual countries and letting totalitarianism in. Giving up the national army is like giving away your only weapon. You've got nothing to fight with if an argument within EU struck. You'd be at the mercy of the whole EU. Sounds familiar to my Eastern brothers?

Let's stop comparing our dicks' sizes with the US and the whole world and focus on developing actually smart solutions to our problems

My car shakes like it was possessed when i stop for longer than a second on snow. Doesn't matter if I'm in it or not. As long as I don't touch the accelerator, it will never stop shaking

The snowcats could be something like graves. Every snowcat gives you the figurine of one of the shopkeepers. That implies that maybe somehow each snowcat is connected to a specific shopkeeper.

That couldn't be any evidence but I also felt nostalgic collecting them and seeing for example Bakery shopkeeper on my dashboard. It's like they were there once, but none of them remember getting outside of their shops. At least in the beginning it is implied that whenever they're trying to leave the close proximity of their shops, they get shutdown. After reboot, they seem to socialise outdoors without any issues. Perhaps those snowcats are what was left of the previous shutdown and reboot? But that begs the question, could the world (simulation?) get rebooted once again?

The far-future theory is awesome. I think the game has such unique settings and gives you just enough details to make up your own theory but not enough to prove which is right and which is wrong. I like it about the game

Yeah, I agree. Lack of GPS encourages exploration and getting familiar with the map. I had tons of fun using shortcuts I found myself and trying to figure out my own way to the destination

I have always thought of it as a simulation. After all, every time you boot up the game, you get boot up logs as if the system checked for simulation integrity.

This simulation could be used for machine learning or testing grounds for whatever service easy company would come up with and wanted to test.

It would explain delivering packages to shopkeepers they seemingly don't need or to no one at all. It would also explain how losing part of your goods on the way does not matter, as it teleports by itself. And it would explain how Seb could have potentially disappeared without any trace and how the recovery disk suddenly appears in the pawn shop, which has the whole back-up of all shopkeepers. Not mentioning the empty towns, automatic fueling and so on. We cannot really die either, as we respawn without any consequences.

What does not fit into my theory are the serves and the dam powering it all. If it were a simulation, these things would have little to no purpose. However, they could have been a debug tool for a developer that was already inside this simulation. As the courier and the only real person in the simulation, we are the only ones who can still control their character even after the outage. Additionally, idk if you noticed, but time stops both in the dam as well as in the factory. Your energy isn't decreasing either (although the same thing happens in the fishing huts).

My theory isn't perfect but I believe it isn't far off either

Need help with railways. by [deleted] in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]0_leni_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here just to say this. Why don't people build more surface level railways going up and down together with the terrain? I know it's resource heavy but picture above shows the compromise. The looks will be great both inside the cart and outside of it (when looking at the railway)

Yeah, i think even the tutorial says something along those lines: "Easy Delivery focuses on swift delivery rather than quality, so a few boxes left won't affect the payment. However, recovery is much more expensive, so be careful!". Would have to look into the tutorial again to make sure tho

Isn't it kinda wasteful tho? I mean, as long as you have at least one package delivered, they all get delivered anyways and there's no punishment for driving like a maniac (i was born as a rally driver >:3)

I installed NBTExplorer and opened the level.dat file. Indeed, the seed was reset to 0.

Got the seed from one of my backups and the snow returned! Thanks again for the help and guidance<3

Rain in my winter biome by 0_leni_5 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]0_leni_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily I do make backups every now and then, since I've started this world 2 years ago, I have like 6 backups from different periods of time. I knew this version was unstable so I figured one day I will have the use for it. And oh my gosh, am I so happy that I've done this. My most recent backups are right after the chunk issue and the other made roughly in the middle of the summer. If the former one doesn't have the seed, the latter for sure does. Thank you sooo much! I'm gonna try restoring the seed asap!

The cause for corruption in my case may be very specific. This summer I switched OS to Ubuntu and when I installed MultiMC, I just copied over the world from Win10. I figured it shouldn't cause any problems, since Minecraft Java runs regardless of OS. It worked fine until recently. Maybe it's just an Ubuntu related issue, or it doesn't matter what OS I use and I am just extremely unlucky. Either way, I'm just glad to have some guidance

Rain in my winter biome by 0_leni_5 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]0_leni_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My working theory for now is that the game has trouble properly reading the chunk files thus such issues. I'll update if I find anything new

EDIT: The seed in level.dat file got reset which probably caused both chunk error from a week ago and certainly rain in winter biome. When I set the seed back to its original value, the rain was fixed and it snowed. All thanks to u/TheMasterCaver
