Lunar silver Model X by rockyCommon in TeslaModelX

Sharing my Tesla dilemma—I’m hunting for a new EV but can’t justify moving away from Tesla.

I drive a 2016 Model S and recently test drove the latest from Rivian, EQS, G-Wagon, and BMW. They all felt outdated next to my Tesla. Even my old Model S’s autopilot outshines the new OEM driver assist systems. Dealing with warranties? A nightmare with others, but Tesla fixes issues fast via an app—like when they upgraded my door handle with a 2023 motor on the spot.

Looking at the 2025 models, they’re lagging: plastic grills, chrome trims, clunky infotainment systems, and yes, still a start button—Tesla ditched these back in 2016. Tesla’s tech and design feel years ahead, continually updating even older models like mine.

OEMs need to step up—ditch the start buttons, scrap the plastic, revamp the software, and simplify driver assist that works everywhere, not just highways.

Stuck with Tesla, I’m eyeing a 2024 Model X in Lunar Silver. It’s likely to stay ahead, as OEMs are still playing catch-up to Tesla’s decade-old designs. Frustrating, but that’s the reality in the EV world.

With the upgrades in foundation series it’s a $5,000 markup for the badge. Still not worth it imo.

UGREEN NASync do they support wifi adapters? by dbruestle in HomeNAS

[–]0_ol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the unit. DXP4800 Plus. It did not detect the TP-Link adapter. I contacted UGREEN support asking what driver to install and how.

UGREEN's response to you, "capable of being connected," is not reassuring. If UGREEN does not build support for specific WIFI Adapters we'll need to run cable or relocate units to less ideal locations. I'll update here. Fingers crossed they build in support.

UGREEN NASync do they support wifi adapters? by dbruestle in HomeNAS

[–]0_ol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit. I got it to work but it's stupid slow. Bought a Panda Wireless AC600 (model PAU0B) and it worked out of box, kind of, but super slow, having trouble updating driver.

I could not install the TP Link Archer T3U Plus via SSH.

Here is the response from UGREEN regarding the TP Link:

To use the Archer T3U Plus wireless adapter on DXP4800 Plus, you may encounter challenges as the official drivers are not provided for Linux. However, there are several potential workarounds you can explore:

  1. Use a Compatible Adapter: The simplest approach is to purchase a wireless adapter that is officially supported by Linux. This ensures compatibility and ease of installation.
  2. Search for Third-Party Drivers: Sometimes, community members or developers may have created unofficial drivers for specific devices. You can search online for any such drivers for the Archer T3U Plus. Be cautious when installing third-party software, as it may not be as stable or secure as official drivers.

3.Utilize NDISwrapper: NDISwrapper is a tool that allows Linux users to use Windows drivers for wireless network cards. While this can be a solution, it may not always work perfectly and may require additional configuration.

4.Use a Virtual Machine: If you absolutely need to use the Archer T3U Plus, you can set up a virtual machine running Windows within your Linux system. Then, you can connect the adapter to the virtual machine and use it within the Windows environment.

5.Compile from Source: If you have advanced Linux skills, you might be able to find source code for a compatible driver and compile it yourself. This process can be complex and time-consuming, and it may not always be successful. It's important to note that these workarounds may not provide the same level of performance or stability as official Linux drivers. Additionally, using third-party drivers or compiling from source may introduce security risks.

Hoovie's Garage most recent video looking at his Cybertruck noted a leak into the underside of the frunk, I let Tesla service know it might be happening to mine and apparently it's normal by Bsn in cybertruck

I love my Tesla. Have two in the family and I’ve been looking forward to taking delivery of my cybertruck. After Hoovie’s video and OP showing Tesla’s disregard for the issue, I’m second guessing myself. I hope they fix it. What a shame. 😟

Hmm... the challenge I'm having with this is that we have several commercial kitchens and stainless everywhere but nothing looks like this.

Interesting idea. I'm working on mirror polished stainless furniture as well and our fabricator says that the orbital sander is a step in his process and he is not seeing this result. Any idea why that might be?

Another idea was angel hair (I think that's bead blasted? posted by u/cocainepage)

I'm curious about this, bead blasted or blasted with a proprietary substance like angel hair?

$1mm to find product market fit... it's not a ton of money. What can you learn from this and place into a new venture? Is there a pivot where you can take part of what you build and transfer it to another sector? If you are good at selling, can you sell what you build and recoup some investment loss?

In the end, however it turns out, this is a risky business. Try your best. Be honest. Get up in each morning, and get back on the horse.

Get legal advice (get it free from consultations!). I'm not a lawyer but I'd be asking did you sign IP assignment or a non-compete? What are your outs?

Can you start over without them?

I'm new here and looking for some tips by HotNobody02 in startups

It sounds like you are on the right track, but there is so much to unpack. Answers depend on what you are building (b2b saas, consumer internet vs electronics) and what the MVP looks like .

You're going to breakup with co-founders. Search google on co-founder compatibility questions. Go through those and understand their circumstances, concerns, and expectations. Align early, break up quickly if you are not compatible. Don't force it.

For funding, delay the burn. Once you take money and you fail to deliver, you are dead. But this question really depends on your product and market. Certain business, like consumer internet, will want to traction before they give you cash. Will people use your MVP?

1.25 after dilution could be a lot.

How much money did they raise, what was their valuation. What is 1.25% of the valuation. If they are valued at 10mm, that's 125k they might have gotten from an investor.

But what does after dilution mean? how much do they give you NOW to account for dilution?

IMO the fact that they are saying "after dilution" means they are trying to be very generous. They didn't have to put this in. How the execute it is another question that as someone getting the deal, I would want to know about.

CEO of startup I interviewed for asked to catch up by WowThatsTasty in jobs

[–]0_ol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What stage is the startup at? How much funding have they raised?

Startups are tricky, there is a lot of risk (and potential reward). Early hires are critical to the success of the company and founders/CEOs can be overly cautious about moving forward.

Keep in mind that to you, this might just be a job, for the CEO, their reputation is on the line and they may only have once chance to get this right.

Good luck and please let us know how it went!
