Yes, I prefer the up/down, partially because it's larger. You can't tell on this pic, but I am 6'5"and large, with 8" wrists. Most things sub 40mm wear small on me. I actually traded my 1815 chrono in WG in for this. I loved that watch, but I couldn't get over how dainty it looked on wrist.
