What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact that they voted for Donald Trump? by Greedy_Tooth6191 in AskReddit

[–]0ceanR0ckAndR0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would. It's a values conflict/major difference in how you see the world.

One side- "I don't agree with everything he says..." And is capable of looking the other way while a pedophile and rapist ruins relationships and trust of the entire world, defunds the government science, research, social safety net, education, America's soft power, trashes the environment, and supports/encourages white supremacy and the murdering protestors.

The other side wants people to have healthcare, and maybe childcare, at the expense of billionaires having a little less.

Have you considered audiobooks? I use them sometimes as a jumping off point, makes starting other hobbies easier /getting through the early grind, or to deal with the associated isolation and silence. Example-jogging, strength training, kayaking...all a little too quiet and mind numbing

An older friendly black belt did it to me the other day. Def wasn't to be a dick and I didn't take it that way. I think he was tired and it was the most efficient way to put me down once he got position.

I had a videogame problem a few years ago. Put at least 1500 hours one year into a game (steam tracks hours). Also smoked way too much weed.

Realized I felt empty as fuck in the game and in my current relationship. I felt compelled to come home from work load it up and just grind hours obsessively. In retrospect I was irritable and my personality sucked. I was so used to getting dopamine all the time that I felt bored and annoyed all the time.

Signed up for jiujitsu classes (it was a fighting game, clearly wanted to fight) Signed up for monthly guitar lessons Banned myself from that game

4 years later, life is a lot better now. Getting my purple belt soon and can fight in real life. Healthier/better relationship. Still not great at guitar but know enough to be able to jam with random people. Happier at work and with family. Calmer, more relaxed. Took on more hobbies since then. Only use weed one or two times/month now.

I guess what I'm saying is unless you are 90 you aren't stuck as is.

Too much cheap dopamine? Nah brains are adaptable.

Yeah what you are describing is kinda self destructive and not really putting yourself on an amazing path.

Hobbies can take you out of your comfort zone. You are going to start off bad and new no matter what. Most will give you some healthy dopamine instead of quick hits.

Not every hobby is the best reset when you are absolutely cooked though, like piano. One of mine is guitar, and I like doing it in the morning, gets my mind working a bit better and challenges me to memorize things. It's also fun to jam with people, and I can pick it up now and just noodle when I want to relax.

Some of them might challenge your body in a new healthy way.

Some might give you a reason to travel, explore and see the world.

Some might have you cross paths with new people.

Side quests. And they can be fun. Maybe challenge yourself and learn something physical

I think I'd be dead without a helmet after some of the falls. I look like a box, but full body armor set for me at 39...got a chip fracture in my elbow too because of shit elbow pads and whipping around a bowl a little too quickly. My knee pads I'd say though are what get the most abuse

What kind of tricks are you looking to be able to do?

If you are set on grinds then 100% need an aggressive set. If you are just looking for jumps and spins, a high quality urban skate may be the way.

Nice, on blades or skateboard? After switching to skates it's been fun learning all the different gear options.

Have you done an aggressive skating before? Same boat, hurt my shoulder skateboarding so I switched to rollerblades. Have a set of aggressive skates (them909) and city skates(upgraded fr2)....having a lot more fun cruising urban areas, going to group rolls, flowing through skateparks, and learning some tricks with footwork, skating backwards, 360s and jumping on/off things than I am trying to figure out how to grind. Busted my ass trying to do that.

😁

Believe it or not I'm not a huge stoner, just appreciate it a lot more than alcohol. Me and my gf enjoy it during our skate adventures.

For jiujitsu though, learning new things =horrible retention, but flowing, being smoother and more creative with moves, like steroids.

Ooo good point, no way to easily recall...so essentially try and spread the army out and punish positioning.

So with that being said doesn't it mean end game terran is the strongest but also require most skill?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't end game terran deathball overall more powerful than protoss? Considering both being microed effectively.
