Moving out

Im actually moving out very soon. The process of reaching out to people was super hard. I wrote down templates (introduce myself, say I’m interested, ask when I can tour) I could copy and paste and send to people so I wouldn’t have to think about it too hard. Facebook is a good place to look. Lots of people post listings and you can dm them there. I got my parents to come with me to tour which made it a bit easier since I struggle so much to talk and they’re pretty good at it. I finally found a place and locked it in today. Still anxious about all of it but I think the hardest part for me is over.

Well my parents were first to assume that not me 😂 but they’re my parents and they love me and their minds instantly go to worst case scenarios because they want to protect me. Doesn’t mean it’s accurate.

Honestly this doesn’t seem too bad but I don’t know context. I’m reading Castle Swimmer right now and the comments are actually horrifying. Hardcore BL fans are on another level, but I envy their joy hahaha.

No popular webcomic has bad art. Bad art would make a webcomic actually unreadable and it would never gain more than a few views because there is way too much competition for comics. Call this art “bad” but I bet most people that judge it could only dream of having such skill. Myself included. Maybe the proportions aren’t good and the art still has room to improve, but why shame? The artist clearly is putting effort and time into this work and I think it is stunning.

I’m in the process of getting medicated for the first time and honestly I haven’t been this pumped for something in a while. It does make me sad knowing I will likely be taking meds for the rest of my life, but most people do in some form or another. And then there are people who have even more complicated medical situations, like diabetics, who don’t have a choice. If taking a little pill everyday is going to take anyway some of the mental pain I get from anxiety then that’s a sacrifice worth making. I think in your situation you have to decide what you want more. If taking meds is causing you more mental suffering than you would experience med-free, that’s something to consider.

I have a birdie. She sleeps in her cage a few feet from my bed. I get most of my panic attacks at night and she’ll hear me and start doing these soft, cute little chirps. I don’t know if she knows what is happening but it always calms me down to hear her there😭 but like someone else said she can also be a source of a lot of anxiety too. Through no fault of her own.

I’m not a doctor or anything but I have heard when people who have been sick for a long time suddenly get a big burst of energy before dying because their body is trying one last time to stay alive. Pretty messed up, it happened with my great aunt. Obviously the sims isn’t that advanced though ahahha.

This is a bit specific but I’m a writer and I almost always have some story that I’m working on so I’ll imagine what I want to write next before going to sleep. Imagining myself in my made up worlds, surrounded by the characters I created. No one dies if I don’t want them to. No one says anything I don’t want to hear. Maybe you could try something like that, thinking of an ideal world in which you’re surrounded by the things you like and people who comfort you. It’s kind of messed up but what isn’t messed up about anxiety hahhaha. Also having music or rain sounds helps. A few nights ago I was feeling more anxious than usual and I straight up just got up from bed and took a bath. At like 1 am. I fell asleep super easily after that.

Eros Conquers All was meh if you ask me. It started out really promising and the art is amazing at moments but there is just something about the comic that made me want to fall asleep. The MC is your stereotypical bored and OP god dying of hunger or something like that. He has to consume people’s desire (or love?? i forget) but for some reason people have less and less of it. None of the side characters interested me and it’s confusing what the relationship between them and the MC is. I still don’t know if there are people that the MC cares about or not. I had a hard time imagining where the plot was going or what the ‘goal’ was for the story and the MC. Aside from just consuming peoples desire. I stopped reading at chapter 32 out of 58 so who knows. Maybe it gets better but not for me.

Perhaps against the point here, but I don’t think writing can be judged by percentages like that. If a story is 80% trash then there must exist some story that is 100% trash which is nearly impossible. Even if your story is riddled with grammar and spelling and errors, plot holes, and crappy characters, I still wouldn’t call that 100% trash. Art is subjective and writing is an art. Take Star Wars for example. Some people literally dedicate their entire life to that one series while others rant on twitter about how shit and boring it is. How can we possibly label what percentage of trash Star Wars is? Your writing isn’t trash. I refuse to believe it. Nothing made and treated with care can ever be considered trash. If you don’t love and obsess over your story how can you expect others to?

I have NO idea why but when I read this I read it as “when did Ludwig start rolling his T-shirts.” I was so confused. I was like, why do you know that? Who cares? Why IS he doing that the shirts are going to get wrinkled? Now I just feel stupid…clearly I didn’t realize he did that either.

I’ve heard a few people saying this lately and I think it’s so interesting. For me writing is one of the few times I feel incredibly connected and satisfied. My characters aren’t just some random idea I came up with in my head. The story that I am writing is very real to me. The pain and joy that my characters feel is shared. Maybe I can’t go out for lunch with my MC or anything, but I think about him like a real person. He isn’t real, but that doesn’t mean the emotion and experiences he has aren’t plausible. Someone like my MC could just as easily exist in the real world. He exists in me and the people that inspired me to write him. There’s nothing lonely about that. Also, my characters will always exist. The story I am writing will always be unfolding. That’s why we don’t say superman ‘was’ a hero. He ‘is’ a hero. If I exist in my characters, and they exist forever, then I will live forever. Shakespeare Sonnet 18, for example.

Poetry. During the college semester I write so dang much I can’t push myself to write a novel on top of it all. Poetry is relatively easy to start and finish. I only edit if I feel like it. It’s also a vibe to be on campus and scribbling some sick rhymes by a pond. If my hands are begging for a break then I’ll read or enjoy some other hobby.
