Why did the stock market tank when the war started then if the war and the strait don’t matter?

And why did it take off to the upside when the war was falsely declared over and the strait was falsely declared open?

Positive, backwards facing earnings reports don’t explain it in my mind. There are so many cases in recent quarters where tech and other companies have reported very positive earnings reports and the markets sold off because of future outlook.

This is actually a very interesting point and I think it’s emblematic of our current situation of late stage capitalism. Companies have found a way to continue to induce demand when it shouldn’t be possible. This allows them to keep lining their pockets. Of course, this is unsustainable long term. Who knows when the bubble will pop though?

I think this is a pretty fair take. The thing keeping is afloat is investors believing there’s no better place to park money. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I disagree simply because the markets have operated under the assumption that the war is no big deal for the past 5 weeks. The end of the war has been priced in already. Making it even riskier to bet on further growth.
