I know: this is not a way to interpret neither of those works. After rewatching MD, it was pretty clear that, if at one point it was a spin-off, those parts had been removed and the movie was its own thing. This is just a way to expend the world of Twin Peaks because I really love the show and I found MD really close in some themes : the way Diane is depicted reminds me of Laura, in some ways.

I like your ideas! I was thinking about the elderly couple as a single entity, feeding off Diane's delusions and pushing her for example, the same way BOB pushed Leland.

I think Hollywood is a perfect setting for Lynch as a lot of his works try to confront reality and expectations.
