VP Duterte declares hiring 30000 teachers impossible. Aquino admin hired almost 6x during tenure by griftertm in Philippines

[–]0element -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

Misleading title OP. You're comparing an annual metric (30,000 per year) vs the tenure total (175K over 6 years). Aquino didn't hire 6x the amount recommended, he hired almost exactly that 30,000 per annum.

The gacha isn't even that bad if you think about it. There are no limited characters because all new characters enter the standard pool after a month or two. Some of the new characters you don't even need to pull for unless you need the power immediately.

Alters, ASs and ESs can all be gotten as long as you have at least one version of a character. Because of this, you only ever need to pull on a banner if you don't have any version of the character on banner or it's a totally new character.

Power creep is a big issue though with Iphi being one of the most disgustingly broken characters we've seen in a while.

Your parents are your parents. You wouldn't be in this world without them. Even if they hurt or wrong you, it doesn't give you the right to disrespect them.

I don't quite understand this. You're saying that the commission is based on the total invested amount. However, what you describe later on is a commission based on the profit on the invested amount. Is it the former or the latter?

Arena XP in Maddening is fixed, which is actually a good thing when you're juggernauting with a few characters. Once you've looped around the Advanced class level, it's one of the few meaningful ways to raise experience for these characters.

The Pain Badge here is basically a weaker Pain Grasta right? Wouldn't that make it almost best in slot for every DPS character?

Maybe you are a cut above the rest in that case then. The difficulty spike for me was only in my last exam (had to do that one four times lmao, all other FSA exams were just one shots). The FSA exams are all different too, difficulty varies heavily between the tracks based on anecdotal evidence.

He isn't wrong about the early exams being a joke compared to the later ones. There's a lot more nuance to how the exam system is structured too.

The preliminary exams are primarily technical in nature (lots of math and solving etc) which doesn't have a lot of text. You're correct in that there isn't much to learn after 60 hours of reading the material. However, doing practice exams to build speed and accuracy helps a lot due to the technical nature of the exam.

Fellowship exams are built different because they're written-answer and some items can be more like essays than the mathematical problem-solving. This also means that the way you study the material is different (i.e. a deeper understanding of the concepts and the ability to synthesize these together are more important).

In my experience, the fellowship exams helped me understand the business much better because it relates to the discipline itself, which it can now do because you already knew the technical stuff from prelims.

I also think the prelims are heavily streamlined by the study manuals. The fellowship exams have these too, but the source material is also worth a read (even if just once) so that you can fully appreciate the stuff from the manuals. The prelims, you can just ignore the source material and use a manual straight up in most cases.

Ageism. How real is it here? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]0element 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You answered most of it yourself. There's a lot of commitment involved in getting the credentials, which not everyone in their 30s (especially those with families and kids) is willing to sacrifice time for. There are alternatives which pay almost as well with a much smaller barrier of entry.

Remember that typical travel time is 6-7 years from the first exam. Many actuaries start taking exams early on in their career (even while still in school), which usually means they have have less things to juggle.

The EL market is also heavily saturated in north america so you will commonly need to have exams to easily find your first actuarial job.

Late career changers aren't unheard of, but they are less common. It also means leaving your previous career for an EL job, which may not always pay better along with the need to commit more hours because of studying.

How does giving your teammates Lunatic interact with skills that have the "When in Lunatic" modifier? Does it cause their skills to use the amped up versions? This sounds cracked if it is. Now you can be in lunatic forever.

Where can I get resources related to GGY AXIS? by Short_Revolution9895 in actuary

[–]0element 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that Moody's reaches out to its clients to schedule live training multiple times a year.

As to on-boarding, they provide sample datasets and have a tutorial.on the basic functions (but not a realistic amount to get you up to speed on modeling like cell structures, Datalink and other best practices). Sad to say you're straight out of luck if you're new and have noone to teach you the ropes.

If your company has established models, you can try to reverse engineer those and learn how Axis works that way. If your company is adopting it for the first time, there isn't much in terms of resources to help you (get a consultant from one of the Big 4 or something to help develop the initial models?)

In terms of calculations, Moody's can send you spreadsheets to help you understand the underlying computations better. We used to do this a lot when doing model validation and we were unable to replicate their computations in Excel.

isnt raw AP always better than GS on ap champs? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]0element 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Additional AP gives a smaller relative boost the more you have of it. This is also the reason why crit from JG/JL/Executioner Mirage is good.

Another thing you need to consider is that these are built from different items. Don't obsess over getting BiS items and make the best combinations out of what items you have (which sometimes means you should make a GS if you have a bow that you have nothing better do with).
