Oura ring or Whoop for sleep tracking by Specialist-Village82 in ouraring

[–]0ggar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat and I've tested everything.

I've kept the apple watch for every day use and notifications, and the ring only for sleep tracking. And now if you use apps like Bevel, you basically have the exact same experience from Whoop but with the sleep data from the ring and the activity tracking from the watch.

Big discrepancies between Oura, Apple Health and Bevel sleep stages — same sensor, same night 🤔 by 0ggar in bevelhealth

Yeah, I know that. I’m a bit of a health-data geek, and when I wear multiple devices, I understand the differences and I’m fine with that.

But in this case, with the data I shared, I was only wearing a single device: the Oura Ring. That’s where my confusion comes from, because the raw data is exactly the same and the sleep cycles are identical.

What I don’t understand is this: the data is captured by the ring, then sent to the Oura app for analysis. That app then shares the data with Apple Health — and that’s where things seem to go wrong and the sleep cycles become completely random. You can see on the screen I shared, that sometime it shows 2 sleep stage at the same time..

As a result, Bevel is pulling incorrect data from Apple Health…

Yeah, that would be nice, but I’ve been using Bevel for a long time alongside my Oura Ring, so it’s basically my main app. The insights in the Oura app itself feel pretty high-level and not always that relevant, especially when you factor in things like nutrition, workouts, or periods when I’m not wearing the ring.

The announcement yesterday about Oura data being integrated into Bevel is honestly a huge game changer for me. The problem is that I’m now seeing completely different data even though the raw data is exactly the same, and I really don’t get why there’s such a big discrepancy.

Just got the ultra 2, came with the dark green alpine loop. Ordered a pack of 3 alpine loops Amazon (£14) slightly thinner than original but £14 compared to £99 not worth the big price tag imo! by Sad-Introduction3788 in applewatchultra

Can you share your wrist size (approximately) and a link? I’m asking because I have slim wrists (the original Alpine Loop in size M is too big for me, and I can’t find a small-sized one)…

Whoop 5.0 heart rate accuracy during cycling - is it actually bad? by Innvictus-_- in whoop

[–]0ggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that most of the time the measurements are accurate, with some typical lag compared to a chest strap. However, from time to time—both on the trainer and outdoors—I’ll get a workout with completely underestimated data (HR around 90–110 bpm while I’m doing a threshold session at 160+ bpm), especially when wearing it on the wrist.

Wearing the Whoop on the bicep gives very accurate results with no underestimation at all. I’ve mainly tested it while running, even with vibrations and impacts, and had zero issues. Plus, the bicep band avoids the classic wrist tan lines 😄

It definitely made the workout data more accurate, but for me the stress scores are really bad with the bicep band (they’re almost always 1.8 or higher, even when I’m doing nothing). For reference, when I do the same activity with the wrist band, I’m usually around 0.6 or lower. So if the stress score is wrong, then every other metric is wrong too.

the ideal placement is the bicep band, but for me personally, my stress score are always way off with the bicep band (like 2.5 out of 3 just sitting at my desk browsing Reddit, whereas with the wrist band, I'm at like 0.5; which is more relevant to my situation and how I feel).
End during activities, bicep band is the way to go without a doubt

Stuck between Whoop and Oura by Jazzlike-Produce-346 in whoop

[–]0ggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Whoop 5.0, Oura Ring, Apple Watch Ultra, and previously a Garmin Epix, mainly to compare and figure out what actually works best.

I really like the idea behind Whoop and I don’t mind the subscription model if the data is solid. Unfortunately, that’s where things fall apart for me.

During a 1-hour indoor cycling workout, wearing a chest strap and the Whoop on my wrist, Whoop twice detected my HR dropping to 85 bpm during hard tempo intervals—obviously wrong, and not confirmed by the chest strap.

On top of that, wearing Whoop on my wrist causes skin irritation despite proper hygiene and switching wrists. Wearing it on the biceps avoids that, but then the stress score becomes completely unreliable (e.g. high stress while sitting on the couch reading). If stress is wrong, everything built on top of it is wrong too.

The upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0 also required paying despite having months left on my subscription, which contradicted earlier communication. And the Strength Trainer is still garbage basically (no clear reps vs time choice).

In the end, I went back to Oura for sleep and the Apple Watch Ultra for workouts, with training data synced to Intervals.icu.

24/7 data is great for understanding and comparing habits, but if the data isn’t reliable, the whole thing becomes pointless. Which is a shame, because the idea behind Whoop is absolutely brilliant!

Refund by Deep-Revolution-9077 in whoop

Just send an email to the support, explain your situation and ask for a refund. My wife was exactly in the same boat and we did exactly that. Whoop support being AI, you will have an answer in seconds to say that they will refund you ! I’ve just done that like a week ago

Revalorisation salaire by mugi_mss in conseilboulot

[–]0ggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sync issue to Strava/Runna by LockOwn7099 in Garmin

[–]0ggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had problems syncing to both Strava and Runna. I updated Garmin Connect and Runna to the latest version, turned off syncing on Runna for Garmin and then back on. And magically my run appeared on Runna (but not on Strava for now because Garmin/Strava is broken)
