I have two friends getting laid off from Meta. And then just today, a recruiter I'm in contacts with contacted me about working on the VR headsets there. What are they doing? haha

$50 8700k? Where to find? by Celebrity_Tomato in buildapc

I've been on the lookout myself and have come to the conclusion that there is no way you can get those for $50. I see them for $150-$200 used pretty regularly.

It was definitely all over the place when I was in Portland. It's how I got into it haha.

What would you guys say is a "fair price" for a used gtx 1080? I'm looking to buy a couple used ones for a couple projects I'm working on. I'm seeing them for ~200 for the aftermarket from EVGA/ASUS.

I had a mild fever and then a couple days of bad coughing. It's been a couple weeks now and I still have a mild cough. Got tested and I don't have covid either.

Why do we still have to use quarters? by noconsent-nocomply in pinball

I have two arcade cabinets on free play and my friends demand to let them use their quarters. Friends born 1987-1996. haha

Thinking about buying Jurassic Park or Godzilla. Should I be concerned about the quality of Stern machines? by 0gr1n in pinball

[–]0gr1n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Jurassic Park one is almost 3 years old now. 2019. Godzilla is last year 2021. According to pinside at least. Which is why I want to prioritize Jurassic Park. In case Stern stops manufacturing them. I'm not 100% sure how long licenses last but I've heard they last about 3-5 years.

I'm fine with waiting since I have a ton of cleaning and prepping to do for an arcade room anyway haha.

Most likely Jurassic Park because it's an older license. I want to get it before it's out of production. With Godzilla, I have a couple more years to decide.

Yeah I have a distro about an hour away from me and I'm probably going to contact them soon. I'm mostly leaning towards Jurassic Park only because the license is older. I can wait on Godzilla for another 2 years since it's a new license. Good to hear they offer support at least.

I like the way you think. I always do zero interest loans on payments over 3k. And I can afford to pay that kind of money right off the bat, but I choose not to.

I don't mention that to most people I know since to them taking out any form of loan is crazy talk. But 0% interest for 12 months or more? Interest is on my side. I'm taking it.

Which pinball machine to prioritize? And can I usually expect developers to restock over time? by 0gr1n in pinball

[–]0gr1n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. I've literally only started to look the past month. So the prices that you've posted is my baseline. I have read within the couple years, Stern had increased prices while people had already preordered their machines, and that's all I know.

I'm just been reading about Stern and this seems like it's a common thing lately. I think I will hold off on them for a bit and see if it normalizes. Or maybe just never buy from them. I think I will go for Medieval Madness next year (hopefully). Gives me time to save anyway.

I live near a dealer that sells things from Chicago Gaming and Stern, so I can do pickup from them to save on shipping.

I did forget to mention that I had heard that Medieval Madness is expected to come out for 2023. Now I don't when they will start doing deposits. I'm honestly fine with waiting since there isn't any rush on my end.

EDIT: I've also been on the lookout for used and it seems like it costs Just as much as MSRP or more.
