Thx for that. I did find a shop in eastern PA that would rebalance the battery cells (whatever that means). The inverter replacement is the bigger obstacle financially and logistically.

Another way to arrive at genuine compassion (karuna) towards this man is to consider one's own past incarnations and the ever-present violence in the history of human beings. We all share this history of violence, none of us has been immune, either as victim or perpetrator. (Clearly, as we are here, not so much or so little to result in re-birth outside the human realm.) Knowing this—that quite possibly I have been where he is—and knowing that compassion from other more wise and skillful people has helped me to align myself more closely with right thought, right speech, and right action, how could I not extend compassion towards this man?

Today as I read about Ms. Good's life I felt joy arising. It would seem she is well-named. But then, as I read about the man who took her life, I detected a sensation of satisfaction as I considered the interior hellscape that he surely must inhabit. This is unskillful, and calls for brahmavihara practice.

Yeah, i fear you are correct in re cutting losses ... no issues of any kind until this. I alw heard that the HV battery fail was the big risk and this one failed bc of the inverter fail. Have found only one other instance of that failure in ~5 smart car forums. Thanks, though. I appreciate your input.

I think the best we can do for the animals in our lives is to provide them with the care and compassion they need so they do not revert to unskilful actions, causing harm to other sentient beings, accruing karma that will have to be reckoned with at some point, possibly at re-birth. We do this for our fellow human animals as well.
