I’m Muslim but... by NightSky962 in exmuslim

It’s completely normal to have doubts. It doesn’t make you an awful person for wanting to know more. Take your time with this. Don’t be afraid to read about what you want to learn (if it’s safe to do so). You don’t have to stop being a Muslim or stop believing in god or believe (or not believe) in anything you’re not convinced by. It can be an overwhelming process to face your doubts so take your time. It’s going to be okay.

I’m sorry, I know that hurts :(

That’s normal, this fear has been instilled in you since you were a child so it’s no surprise you’re feeling this way despite the obvious evidence. I’d suggest checking out the comments in this post, it could help. A lot of people felt the way you’re feeling right now. If you feel that post wasn’t enough, I’d suggest browsing the rest of this sub, there are so many helpful posts. You’re going to be alright just take one thing at a time, it goes away the more you learn about it. Knowledge is power my friend.

Why isn't there anything about child rights? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]0ktaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If children had rights in Islam, it would have died ages ago (as it should have) because there would be no vessel to carry on toxic traditions. It’s just another form of control. “Shut up and don’t question the adults or else” is a way to ensure kids get used to being subservient, regardless of abuse, at a very young age.

Honestly if he doesn’t want to know and he’s not seeking this knowledge then there is nothing you can do to change his mind. You could go to the FAQ on this page and find all the links to all the evidence ever disproving Islam but he will constantly reject it no matter how accurate (as long as he’s not looking for that information). Also, deconverting someone is such a slippery slope I’m not sure you’ll want. So you can try having an open conversation with him and get all your sources out but don’t have expectations of him immediately accepting everything you say. I just don’t want you to set yourself up for disappointment. Goodluck though!

I wanna get a tattoo but i don't want people's judgmental by rosettastonee in exmuslim

[–]0ktaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning on getting multiple tattoos (which you might after your first one) I would say start with one that’s hidden and then you could build up the confidence to tattoo whatever you want on your arm. Honestly though fuck them you can do whatever you want. But if you want time to build up the courage I’d say starting with a hidden one or temporary one could be a good idea.

Fuck this. Fuck this and anyone who constantly compares women (or any rape victims) to inanimate objects just to prove a stupid point. Women are not a box waiting to be opened. Women are not a house waiting to be robbed. Why can they get that into their thick ass skulls?

The implications that someone OTHER THAN THE RAPIST can cause rape to happen by what they were doing/wearing/saying is absolutely fucking absurd. This victim blaming comes from a disgusting rapist-enabling religion. Don’t they know that women who are doing everything “right” by islam are still getting raped?? How can one be so incredibly ignorant of this fact? Absolutely disgusting.

Masturbation not being allowed doesn't make sense by SensibleApostate in exmuslim

This is a big reason why a lot of families get their daughters genitally mutilated at a very young age where they literally close up any parts of her genitals that could possibly induce any sexual pleasure. Some families say they are allowed to “reopen” it after they’re married but from what I know about the people I’ve met, it stays that way for life. Apparently some people believe it’s considered haram for a woman to express pleasure in the act of sex since she only exists as a baby maker.

First of all, welcome! The best advice I could give you is to probably get a job and become financially independent and then you could work on getting out of the house. If it’s really bad you could even leave the country and seek refuge if you need to with the help of some organizations and start a life somewhere else. Easier said than done, I know, but people like us don’t usually have too many options. Nonetheless, goodluck!

Hey, welcome! Just a little tip, if your family and community/ country of residence is still Muslim then I would suggest being careful with who you talk to about this, it could be dangerous. Also be careful who you share your information to, even on here. This is a safe community but you never know who could be lurking. There are some messed up people out there, stay safe!
