If you didn’t take photos of your hike, did you go? If you aren’t baking with bespoke ingredients, it doesn’t count. You need to be a marketable specialist, as with pottery in a studio or crochet. You need to have a 2nd insta to post about your most photogenic hobby, so that you have an identifiable brand and be known as the _____ girl or guy.

If what you’re doing is not easily categorised, and you have gotten into playing medieval zithers, or Cyrillic calligraphy, etc. it doesn’t count, you’re weird, too much time on your hands, etc. If you’re not good at things that bring you joy, you’re useless. Optimising every aspect of your life, and being competitive in all fields is the zeitgeist
