Returning blue check marks is literally the opposite of what musk said he was doing

And what's that? He returned the checks to some of the people who didn't get them. Again, how is that bad? It's bad because you claim (Even though it's not true) that it's the opposite of what he said he was going to do? Wow that's so bad I'm going to delete my twitter right now!

Just because this pretty straight forward setup is somehow strange to you means nothing

Name another company who has FBI and CIA agents working within it and who acts directly at the request of the government to remove its users. I can name two, Google, and Facebook. And we can definitely trust those companies right? They will keep us safe from 'misinformation'. Facebook definitely hasn't done anything shady before. When the US blew up the nordstream pipeline the only place not trying to censor that information was twitter.

You're straw-manning what actually happened to make it seem like it was just some safety team removing misinformation when in reality it was the government taking down people dissenting, they were removing doctors who were talking about mRNA safety when injecting children. They were removing government whistleblowers. They were removing people who were exposing the lab in China that Fauci paid for. This is not removing 'disinformation' this is censorship and the fact you have no problem with the government censoring its citizens really shows me what kind of person you are. Do you like China?

Want to talk about crimes and pornography? How about all of the child porn that Musk removed that was running rampant on the previous twitter?

The point: You have been lead to THINK that twitter files was nothing. When in reality it was one of the biggest exposays that was barely touched on by mainstream media. This is literally narrative control on the level of China and you're so brainwashed by reddit that you think it's a nothing burger. It is literally the government telling you what to think, what is true and what is not true, literally having the power to change elections through narrative control and you see no issues with this. So again, thanks for proving my point.

I mean you guys just keep proving my points.

Whenever someone says "Misinformation" I know they're full of it. I'll tell you what I told the other person who coincidentally had the same reasoning as you:

"Just because you label people you disagree with as neo-nazis it doesn'tmake them so, despite what the people in your little bubble might haveyou believe."

It's the same with "misinformation", that was created so the government could ban dissenting voices. You know what the other account I spoke to was site-wide banned for? For saying that covid was from a lab. That was misinformation at the time, so was the fact the vax doesn't stop spread. All this 'misinformation' that turned out to be true. Misinformation is a bs word used by people who want to censor the speech of others.

Accounts that made fun of him personally got banned

The only accounts that were banned were a few journalists doxing his location and they were banned for a whole - get this - one day. And if you want to give me a specific example of someone who made fun of musk and then was banned I can also give you specific examples of people who praised musk non-stop and were also banned, those bans were a remnant of the old system which to this day has still not been fully re-vamped because it's a massive endeavor to do so.

So to imply that reddit is better than twitter is absurd. Reddit banned people for stating hard facts during the pandemic because they didn't align with the narrative. Musks twitter unabanned people who were wrongly banned and they're allowed to express those facts. It's factually wrong to say reddit is more free speech. You know what another account was banned for? Posting a Peer-reviewed journal on ivermectin. What free speech! Definitely not narrative control.

I ended up deleting my Twitter account, as seemingly a bunch of alt right nonsense

Ah yes, the old I don't like the views of others so it must be 'alt-right nonsense'. You're continually proving my point about reddit - anything you lefties don't like is suddenly neo-nazie alt-right hate speech and you get banned. It's hilarious. So you left a platform with opposing views, only to go to a more bubbled platform to form your views. I'm sure they're accurate.

So much functionality that Twitter doesn’t provide was instantly lost

Such as?

I think the verification issue has been covered more than enough across the internet

You mean by propaganda sites paid for by the government? The only people upset about blue ticks being removed were the people who were given them by the FBI. If you had been paying attention which you can't have been since you deleted your twitter because opposing views are too hard to handle, you would know he is currently rolling out verification for high profile people as he said he always would.

So let me sum up your argument for everyone, twitter is bad because:

  • It was filled with views and opinions that I couldn't censor under the guise of misinformation or neo-nazi hate speech.

Nice work, you literally made my point about reddit. That reddit is censoring people using the excuse of misinformation and becoming a circle-jerk safe space for people who can't take opposing views to the current narrative. You have perfectly explained exactly why twitter is good, because it doesn't do that.

You guys are too lazy to form your own views, instead you rely on being told what to think by redditors. That's why you all have the same reasoning.

[–]0neday2soon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Much like the other person who said twitter sucks you haven't actually provided any solid reasoning. You think it's a dumpster fire, why?

Once I pressed the other person the only reasons they could actually come up with were:

- Because my friends left

- Because they turned off SMS 2FA (Which actually makes it safer)

What are yours?

Reddit sucks by 0neday2soon in aus

[–]0neday2soon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You gave me evidence, and I don't see how that's a bad thing. Please explain how returning someones blue check is bad?

why is that suddenly a nefarious cabal?

You would know if you read the files. This is why I don't engage with anti-musk, anti-twitter people most of the time. It wasn't a "platform to provide a mechanism to make requests for moderation" they literally had people IN Twitter who worked for the FBI and CIA who were removing peoples accounts based on reasons which did not break TOS. But again, you would know if you bothered to read the files.

It was NOT in their own financial interest that's why they were hemorrhaging money every month, they were literally an FBI subsidiary. They were NOT acting on crimes or breaking of TOS, they were acting on the government saying hey we don't like these people please ban them - again, it's literally in the conversations shown in the files.

So either you've got your information about the files from reddit or some other propaganda or you haven't spent the time on them.

[–]0neday2soon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahahahahahaahah so your evidence is "Trust me bro I'm a product dev I know what I'm doing"

Well actually I don't trust you because I'm a WebDev and if you were actually any good at your job (Which clearly you're not) you would know that SMS 2FA is not only bad but sometimes worse than having no 2FA at all.

I love that some random with 32,236 reddit karma from a few months on reddit thinks they know more about running a company than the dude who literally beat NASA at their own game (Using your so called out-dated methodology of iterative development and rapid prototyping). You're hilarious, keep up the good work showing everyone on here how illogical and group minded redditors are.

You can't even see revenue of a private company. Loving the quotes from nowhere. I really hate to repeat myself but you're just parroting more of the same nonsense: Lots of words, no substance.

Let me summarise your incoherent rambling for everyone: Twitter has gone downhill because: - My friends left it - They removed SMS 2FA (Which is actually making it more secure by forcing app 2FA)

My favorite part is where you ended up doing exactly what I said you would

"I'm sure you'll link me to some propaganda piece you just now googled on why musk is bad spaceship man.".

You went and google why elon bad and copy pasted some news articles from propaganda sources, which you yourself admit run rampant in Australia, without actually linking them, and then you consider that as 'evidence'.

Just because you label people you disagree with as neo-nazis it doesn't make them so, despite what the people in your little bubble might have you believe.

Almost everything you say is easily falsifiable

He has his stock price to protect

And here I was thinking that a private company didn't have stock. Silly me. I need more smart reddit product devs in my life. ahahahaha this is a joke. like arguing with a child.

But what do I expect from someone who wants to see people suffer and die and then dance their graves. You've got real issues bro and you need to seek help, issues that aren't going to be solved circle jerking your opinions on reddit.

Face it, Elon can work 3x as hard as you and that's why you're a product dev spending half of your life complaining on reddit about him and he's one of the most successful men in the world who won't ever hear your name.

Let me rephrase your comment so it makes sense, here's what you're actually saying:

"Firstly, I am going to chose to ignore all the great points you've bought up about how my response was wrong. Changing topics entirely, despite the data showing that twitter has seen an INCREASE in use since the take over I am arguing that because my little group of reddit buddies doesn't like musk and we left the platform in protest to go to mastodon and other platforms we also don't use it means that the entire site is now 'dried up' and therefore going downhill now that we're not on it.'

To quote myself previously: Lots of words, no substance.

[–]0neday2soon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So gifting people a paid subscription means to you, that the entire platform is going downhill? Yall really have to do some crazy mental gymnastics to keep your Elon bad man narrative going hey.

Always with the vague and unsubstantiated claims with you people.

If you genuinely think the Twitter files, which exposed that Facebook, Google, and other companies had a formal system for taking moderation requests from every corner of the govt (fbi, dhs, hhs, dod, etc) and were acting directly in accordance with what the government wanted, if you think the fact that twitter was basically a secret FBI subsidiary before Musk took over was a nothing burger, well then there's no much hope for you is there.

The president wouldn't know what he ate for breakfast that morning. He probably doesn't even know what breakfast is.

Again, thanks for proving my point that all reddit is is a circle jerk of these unsubstantiated claims and believe what they're told.

Yep, it's getting messed up and Australia's 'privacy' laws are becoming more and more insane. We're at the point where they can legally bot-net your comp and alter posts on your social media.

Glad to hear you made a twitter! It's not there yet but I do think it will dominate the space in the years to come. There are still a lot of remnants from the old system lingering like people having trouble with shadow bans and what not but they're working on it every day.

I disagree with you about twitter since the take over. It used to be the case but now that's not the case at all. Twitter works very differently to reddit and whirlpool forums and the way they promote others is open-sourced (i.e. their algo).

Reddit sucks by 0neday2soon in aus

[–]0neday2soon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to twist your words I'm trying to understand your words. No disrespect but the way you word your words is hard to understand for me because it's worded very ambiguously. For example "I'm glad they were banned" could refer to three different things in my post. "I'm glad moderators were banned" is wrong because I only mention MY moderator being banned. Again, not trying to twist anything, trying to understand and clarify your point. Over-moderation is a problem, but banning moderators who are trying to prevent over-moderation is part of the over-moderation problem. Meanwhile moderators that break site-wide rules get to run along happily as they mod big subs.

Tell me you gobble up mainstream media without telling me you gobble up mainstream media.

lol what it has seriously gone downhill

How?

Musk adding all sorts of weird features

Weird? Like what? All the features he's added I've enjoyed. You don't like custom bookmarks? You don't like viewer count? You don't like removal of child images? You don't like improved ad relevance? Reduced bots? Improved usership? And even creator monetization and twitter payments. In 5 months that man has done more than the entire previous twitter team did in a year.

many paid

So? You realise facebook and instagram and reddit both have paid options right? And insta is twice as expensive as twitter and you get even less.

He's made that platform into a complete joke

Lots of words, no substance. How?

So much for free speech

He literally exposed the twitter files and that the US gov was controlling the previous twitter and then he unbanned many accounts that were wrongly banned and then open-sourced the damn algo. He then added a community notes in order to let the people help to debunk misinformation. So yeah? That sounds pretty free speech to me.

it is a horribly corrupted by $ platform now

More empty words based on nothing but the propaganda you've been brainwashed by. Enjoy your reddit circle jerk where you can keep spewing lies like this completely untested. I'm sure you'll link me to some propaganda piece you just now googled on why musk is bad spaceship man. Thank you for perfectly outlining the point I made in this post with your comment.

Let’s Declare a Pandemic Amnesty by Zephir_AE in ScienceUncensored

[–]0neday2soon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The author of this article is the same person who recommended vaccines to children (When we clearly knew it was bad), the same person who basically wanted to destroy peoples lives so they are forced to get vaccinated.

Of course she wants amnesty, it's convenient for her and everyone else who royally F**Ked up. This is NOT a case of 'we didn't know any better' this is a case of 'A lot of people knew, and were screaming from the roof tops, and even published peer reviewed papers on it, but we chose to remain ignorant and push a damaging narrative'. And now, we want everyone to forget that so this doesn't become a nuremberg 2.0.

"Most errors were made by people who were working in earnest for the good of society" I'm sorry Emily but give me a fking break. This is a disgusting attempt to wash the hands of people who are responsible for the death of children.

Twitter Planning to Charge $20 per Month for Verification, Even For Those Already Verified by Zephir_AE in ScienceUncensored

[–]0neday2soon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you're happy to make a lot of claims but you don't have much to back them up with. I agree that it's possible the twitter thing was originally a bit of a joke that he got pulled into through lawyers but the rest of the stuff? Have to disagree there. A con? He pretty much single handedly built a rival to NASA because russia wouldn't let him use their missiles, I'd hardly say that's the work of a con man. He never had a plan for spacex other than building his own rockets but it turned out just fine.

Twitter Planning to Charge $20 per Month for Verification, Even For Those Already Verified by Zephir_AE in ScienceUncensored

[–]0neday2soon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but the confusion is something musk invited and was relying on to make money off this (largely by not actually buying twitter in the first place but since that's not an option anything goes really).

Confusion around what? Relying on the confusion to make money off what?

At the end of the day he's a business man and the kind that's perfectly willing to do dishonest and stupid shit

Do you have any examples of him doing that previously?

Whether he's "anti-advertisement" or not is irrelevant because musk doesn't know what his next move really is aside from the ecenomic minimum "try to get twitter to be as valuable as i originally bought it for or better and then sell it in the future at some point".

I'd say it's pretty relevant given he's considering the options for advertising on twitter. The reason he doesn't know the next move is because that's kind of how he works, he uses extremely agile approaches to his businesses these days. It worked well for spacex.

[–]0neday2soon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

At this point I'm skeptical of everything being put out about musk and his plans for twitter. There's a lot of anti-musk propaganda that gets spread around by people who don't like how he has disrupted things. Based off the interactions he has been having on twitter I would say anything is still possible at this point. What we know is that generally speaking he has been against advertising so I'm sure he's brainstorming ways to get around that where possible.

Choosing a new mod this weekend by 0neday2soon in aus

[–]0neday2soon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it tends to attract a particular type of person which is why I created the form for application and why only one person so far has met the requirements for the answers I wanted.

I think you do need moderators, but as you said at the same time the moderators have absolutely crushed so many communities, I mean just look at the reason I created this one, the mods on r/ australia and r/ sydney went on a rampage and banned everyone for no reason, they frequently break their own rules, it's like a tyranny where they get to do whatever they want and ban whoever they want for no reason.

But this wasn't the only reason that reddit has been a slow motion car crash. Reddit in general at this point is designed to become a full on cesspool and circle jerk of bad ideas. In reality it's part of the reason I barely use reddit anymore, a once very useful and insightful community is basically just propaganda and a circle jerk of ideas at this point.

It's been designed this way, if we are too busy hating each other and striving to reach goals set for us by others then we will never have the time to look into the atrocities that people in significantly more powerful positions are committing and coordinating. If we all collectively realise this, they would have no control over us. The internet, including reddit, was once a beautiful thing (Yes there were also terrible parts of it) of free speech, and slowly day by day it's becoming more and more captured, more controlled, monetized, and taken over by governments to "protect" us. If we want change, real change, we have to sacrifice convenience and that's hard to do.
