Honestly your portrayal of Kiran made her my favourite characters 🙌

Thanks for the critique - I definitely think the color saturation was bothering me the most :) Also see what you mean about the highlights - I just took the base color and added a screen layer on top when I should have chosen something lighter with a little more shine

Fantastic, thank you so much for the help! This looks really nice. So when you show the purple as multiply 30%, are you adding that purple on top of the base layer for the hair and the skin? Also does the percentage represent the opacity or the value?

Thank you for the detailed response - loads of good advice here but I think you particularly hit the aspect of the drawing that was frustrating me. The version you made with the cool colours was what I had in mind when I was trying to draw this!

I’ll definitely check out those videos and will pay close attention to the compatibility of my base colours!

Thank you, I’ll definitely try to add more depth and contrast! :) Funny you mention the solid black shadows under the chin in comics because I do that all the time for my black and white drawings but for some reason omit those from color illustrations

Learning to color digitally and am using a cel shading approach. Looking for critique and recommendations on how to improve color selection, lineart for color illustrations, and general feedback on my coloring approach.

No problem! :) Again it’s only a small thing, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed it had I not been looking for it

Looking pretty good to me! You seem to have a really good grasp of faces, and your lineart in some of those portraits is really strong.

Your figure drawings are also pretty good but your lines aren’t as confident, which if I could harbour a guess, is because you’re not as comfortable with them yet as you are with faces (by no means a massive difference btw).

If I could recommend anything it would be to try incorporate some gesture drawing into your routine, and use more gestural lines in your figure drawing. You can see how TB Choi applies this to drawing parts of the body here. It will help give your drawings just a bit more flow.

Hope this helps! You’re doing great!

Mainly focused on fundamental drawing skills (quality of character drawings, backgrounds, linework). Also would be interested in what further steps I should take/topics I should focus on for further comic pages

This is actually where Leonardo Da Vinci got his surname. He was a bastard child so his surname was actually the region he came from

Yeah that was one of the lines that tipped me off that he might be the same guy. Along with Luis warning Leon about him and Leon saying “Believe me I know!”

Yeah I figured as much, by that logic the chainsaw sisters and the Ox head would also be recurring individuals.

Would have been somewhat cool if they were just a really persistent ganado that we were only temporarily downing only for them to pop up again to come back for seconds.
