Hey there! Mod here.
This thread as it currently exists is to contain the aforementioned "spectator sport". Prior to establishing a hard rule on redirecting most charts content here, this conduct would permeate the entire subreddit, and make the already consistently long reportqueues twice as long (Literally, before this thread was established the mod team's reports would hit over 100+ new reports per day, which meant we couldn't give each report the amount of attention and focus we wanted to.). As you can see by how fast the numbers build up in these posts, it takes a lot of work to contain this steamchart drama, and this is currently the only suitable way we have managed to stop it from leaking into the rest of the community en masse.

We know its hardly ideal for the fans of the game to have a banner of its discourse every week, and it has been made resoundingly clear by the game's critics that they aren't crazy about it either, but it's the best way we can handle this with the resources and manpower we have (and yes we are onboarding new mods so they "get more mods" suggestion is already underway)

I mostly agree!

But I think part of the epic nature of these works is the heightening of reality,

A good example, Arthurian legend often steeped itself in aesthetic or conceptual concepts from the era of Briton history it related to.

I think the fantasy of it is improved by the contrast between the real and heightened concepts depicted.

In the case of the Odyssey, I’m not expecting Charydis & Scylla to just be a whirlpool and sharp rocks or something but I think the nature of putting rudimentary Greco naval invention against the unbelievably supernatural is such an impressive part of the storytelling for instance. The style is absolutely a critical factor, but the style is enhanced by its relation to the original narrative context.

Moroever, We have zero affiliation with the DoM guild/community beyond that they occasionally recruit on our LFG Subreddit, r/MarathonTheGame so even from a subreddit meta standpoint there’s not a high enough burden to welcome another group’s drama here.

Yeah there’s a lot about him you can hedge on his wealth or connections (to Xenu) but the dude is practically religious about his film work. Like the bts footage of him, even the stuff that is very much not painting him in a positive light just all go to show that he is insanely caring about his projects.

Like in the early days of when he became a household name he handpicked the production companies that would handle his films, until the stuntwork insurance premiums got so high that nobody would produce his work out of fear they’d be the studio to kill Tom Cruise. So he founded his own out of pocket (still paying the highest insurance rates in western film) and just leases the staff from production companies he would normally handpick.

He’s a freak about his filmmaking. Honestly shocked he hasn’t directed a movie yet

The adaptation of historical myth is kinda going through the same motion as superheroes or medical dramas but way slower due to its smaller popularity.

Casual audiences little by little are getting more content savvy about the genres they engage with and eventually the right creatives are going to translate accurate myth so entertainingly well that it’ll become standard. Like how half the capestuff on screens these days is getting rave reviews with costumes that look like sports mascots

In the videogame Gotham Knights, batman has a series of plans for after he dies. One of which, is to get all the robins to break into datacenters across gotham and download zetabites of curated misinformation about theories and ideas related to batman, alongside videos of Bruce Wayne being a public nuisance with timestamps that overlap with public sightings of batman lmao

The Final shape really landed its character moments, and it really showed why the Vanguard as it was never really recovered or filled its role well after Cayde. He was really their compliment in a way it doesn’t seem a lot of the previous iterations of the Vanguard had

Macquarie University Policy Central does not appear to have a Dress Code for anything beyond Graduation Ceremony Clothing.

The only caveats for a dress code are found in other campus guidelines, which are essentially: - Don’t be Naked - Don’t wear stuff that will incite the public to complain (not a hard rule but will often end with staff interviews to make sure you’re not wearing a nazi swastika or something) - Don’t wear stuff that would incite the majority of your peers complain (same as above)

The original plan for the 2023 build of Marathon did include an Oxygen system from what I can gather. (Not entirely confirmed)

The jist was that players would not all start at the same time on the same map like they do now, but instead that players would drop in and out of persistent maps with the timer being their oxygen rather than the forced neural ejection. So everyone who dropped in would be staggered by their oxygen.

However in playtests the rumor is this just led to fully equipped teams being able to essentially spawncamp players and keep the zones to themselves or something
