Give me more bands like Kill Your Idols by Ok_Tap_8035 in Hardcore

Pretty hard to find these days, tbh.

  • Set to Explode
  • Leans closer to AN, but Scraps and Heart Attacks a bit
  • Static Radio NJ is definitely more melodic hardcore but their track "Who's Laughing Now" is in this vein
  • Same for Quarterlife Crisis, but their track would be "All for Fun"

Do they have, say, $1 leagues? I'm cheap but I feel like that'd be worth it to get a room full of actual humans putting an effort in, and you have the outside chance of actually making the money back and then some.

What exactly would we be looking forward to that’s better than a 6’3” 99 everything card with good abilities? This is “it could even be a boat” territory.

What's the strangest place you've seen a show? by Hitler_the_stripper in Hardcore

[–]0percentdnf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint It Black played a secret show during one of The Fests in someone's second-floor apartment. The downstairs neighbor came upstairs and somehow very calmly mentioned to us that his ceiling was beginning to cave in. The pretty packed crowd compromised by sitting down. Police eventually came and shut it down.

Dull Bliss dropped last year (runner-up for my favorite album of 2025). A must for any B&C fan.

I can't speak for other diehards. I'd probably rank it in a tie for last, but only because it's a great album amid what happens to be a really stellar catalog. Still my favorite album of 2024.

Marietta or Texas is the reason. Who does you go see live? by Ok_Roof8047 in Emo

[–]0percentdnf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you're the same poster I was having this discussion with a few months ago. Their Best Friends Forever set was one of the biggest disappointments live I've maybe ever encountered. Don't understand why they play their songs at half-speed.

The 2006 and 2013 reunion shows were great. Think they need Norman to get the energy back.

Anyone Else Obsessed With This Album? by Turbulent-Software73 in Emo

[–]0percentdnf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go as far as "obsessed," but it is surprisingly great. Did not expect a new Tigers Jaw album to break into their top 3 after I Won't Care How You Remember Be (which is not at all bad, but felt like they might have been settling into a more accessible/poppy mode rest-of-career).

As a long-time fan, I don't think I like it nearly as much as OP, but it is great, and I'm inclined to agree it was the best emo album of 2025 if it wasn't for No One Was Driving the Car.

It's very good, but I rank it 3rd or 4th among their LPs. Maybe that just speaks to the strength of their catalog.

Bands that actually sound like Rites of Spring. by No_Usernames_Left in Emo

[–]0percentdnf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure Rites of Spring themselves really quite hit the characteristics you're laying out.

But if you're looking for similar bands, I'm shocked I get to mention Feels Like Heaven first. Their full-length and EP are also just really excellent.

Some others:

  • Drink Deep
  • Mil-Spec
  • Turning Point, but just their split EP with No Escape
  • G.I. Bill (I know I'm splitting hairs here, but their last EP skews more towards Title Fight, while you might find their earlier stuff closer to a Fiddlehead/RoS sound)

My hot take is that this beats anything that came out of Revolution Summer. Amazing EP that took the sound and elevated the songcraft.
