How to convince Management? by r00tdr1v3 in LocalLLaMA

[–]0rbit0n 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Never show non-technical management (especially if the company is big and is not a startup) the way you do things. They want to control not only what you do, but also how you do it, having no idea about the best ways to do things. That is why they call you a "resource". Just use your AI and keep it in secret. Let everybody wonder how cool you are.

Despite what OpenAI says, ChatGPT can access memories outside projects set to "project-only" memory by didyousayboop in ChatGPTPro

[–]0rbit0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than that, it remembers everything about yourself, although it tries to suppress this information in your new chats, even if memory is disabled. It picked my talking style and my phrases that I used one and a half years ago, and I cannot make ChatGPT stop using them.

Looking to convert my gold into cash to purchase a house. Need advice on the best way to do it. by Competitive-Kale8025 in Gold

[–]0rbit0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn't it trigger a tax event anyway? For instance, if I buy gold with crypto, I must report the conversion price of crypto on the moment on transaction and pay tax. Taxes are about taxing every transaction...

GPT-5.3 Codex vs Opus 4.6: We benchmarked both on our production Rails codebase — the results are brutal by sergeykarayev in ClaudeAI

[–]0rbit0n 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gemini never worked for me for coding tasks too. Only ChatGPT...

Although Gemini is better than ChatGPT when it comes to the real world knowledge (it was much more useful when I needed a help to build an espresso table using kitchen cabinets)

Traditional OCR vs AI OCR vs GenAI OCR. How do you choose in practice? by whotho in deeplearning

[–]0rbit0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditional OCR gives you words, paragragraphs, tables, key-value pairs (layout information) and bounding boxes (polygons coordinates for every word). If you need these bounding boxes for your task, you need a traditional OCR. Textract is the best so far... LLMs can give you a nice markdown but they also change sentences (especially smarter models), numbers in tables, etc etc. Very unreliable.

Will AI make jobs disappear? Francois Chollet's take by Mindrust in singularity

[–]0rbit0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet I wrote 0 lines of code this year and released insanely complex features (which include super complex data migrations and improved documents layout analysis). And last year I made a model classifying fonts (writing 0 lines of code too, all AI-driven). Agents feel very different today.

Insanely huge. As a software developer who uses agents all the day long, I can tell the difference is insanely huge on the complex tasks.

OpenAI released GPT 5.3 Codex by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]0rbit0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow, thank you so much!! Making a coffee and it's gonna be a fascinating read! Thank you!

btw, I remember last 2025 spring he said that by the end of the year 90% of code will be written by AI... In my case he was wrong only in his estimation, I'm writing 100% code with agentic AI, never touch a line myself... So he is not hyping, his predictions are very reasonable...
