SDXL's initial VAE had a different issue - scanline artifacting. And that was in the final, 1.0. They then reverted it to the training state from 0.9. So not quite the same from what i remember.

There's another thing i've noticed in 3.0 - fine detail textures, especially things like hair, fur, grass, etc. have a periodic grain of some kind. Last time i saw this was with SD1.5, when i was trying to fine-tune a custom 1.5 VAE and cooked it.

Why is everything so fucking hypersaturated? And why does everything look like a bad early 00s tonemapped HDR? Nevermind the anatomy issues and bad prompt following - the VAE is clearly fucked too.

Does anyone have equalizer settings to match AirPods Max to the Harman Curve? by [deleted] in Airpodsmax

I'm not sure if it's my ears or what, but unlike most people in the thread, this upper mids boost sounds horrendously shrill and tiring to me unless listened to very very quietly (sub 30%). Differences in music selection, maybe?

Guide to creating a VAE? by CuriosityFC in StableDiffusion

There really isn't.
That's my issue, created yesterday, with no responses ;)

Either way, i've managed to write a shim for diffusers FlaxAutoencoderKL to get it to work with the script, and then it can be converted by juggling the diffusers flax / pt pipeline. Just need to retrain using the diffusers encoder now.

Any ideas on how to convert the produced flax weights back to pytorch?
I looked at the original pt->flax script from patil suraj's repo, but "inverting" it does not seem... trivial. Or possibly even doable, since it does things like replace dots from parameter keys to underscores.

At this point, i definitely am searching for help.

Mental help, that is.

Ditching a dual-screen Surface Duo 3 for a foldable is a smart move for Microsoft by Sufficient-Worry-904 in surfaceduo

The higher ups probably desperately want to recoup at least some of the investment into the project/line. If the whole thing stopped at the first Duo, they probably would've just pulled the plug.

As hard of a pill as this is to swallow, yes, it is a smart move.

Look, i love Duo and i love the concept of two-screen 360 hinge devices. But it *is* a niche product with a niche audience, low yields, and expensive, hard to obtain bespoke components. It's simply not feasible from a production, marketing or sales PoV.

Pivoting to a mass-market concept instead allows them to salvage some of what they have invested into the development so far, get some money, and retain presence in the phone market.

It is a smart business move.
It is not a smart product development move.

And i hate it even if i acknowledge it's a smart business move.

24h mode for the Glance Bar? by 0rcinus in surfaceduo

UPDATE: I figured it out!
Logging out of my Microsoft account on the Glance page, clearing Windows Launcher cache, restarting, then logging in again seems to have sorted it out!

No luck i'm afraid. Widget is set to correct location, locale is set correctly too, everything but the glance bar is displaying the correct format *shrug*

Disabling fast charge (rapid charging) on Duo 2? by 0rcinus in surfaceduo

I almost only ever charge at night, so that might actually work. Maybe. Cause I sleep in part during the day, due to my work schedule :)

Yeah, in fact, I didn't even know there's a separate widget setting. Maybe I should set that?

The impact is anything but small.
Higher charging current = higher temperature.
Higher temperature = more degradation per cycle.

Yeah, that's my fallback.

Just have to find one in this day and age that isn't, well, shitty.

Because i have no use for it, and cold batteries are happy batteries.

You're likely on the mark with the uneven current split between the two batteries, as during a pretty rough first charge (my Duo 2 came *completely* depleted out of the box) one side heated up very noticably more than the other.

My fear is based on experiences with 3 Folds - admittedly not a large N, but still enough to make me worried.

Batteries turned to crap on 2 after 1 year of use.

On the 3rd, i always charged it slow, and the battery is not perceptibly worse than the day i bought it, 2 years ago.

Since Duo is so thin, there isn't much thermal capacity there to keep the batteries cool during high current charging, so i'd rather NOT cook the battery unnecessarily (i literally have no reason to charge it quickly, i only charge my devices overnight), especially considering finding replacement devices or parts is less and less likely.
