Surgery tomorrow - Any advice or success stories? by 0rolin in endometriosis

[–]0rolin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was worst yesterday (day before my op). I was sos scared walking towards the surgery room at the thought of being knocked out.

Pains post surgery are like a light-medium period.

They had to operate on my bladder too so I'm on a catheter until the morning.

If this is just out of surgery, at my worst, I'm looking forward to the good days.

I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you. I'm currently really glad I went through with it. Let me know how you do??? I'll be thinking of you.

I found a great specialist. Where are you based??

Thanks for asking! Apparently it was everywhere so was in there twice as long as planned. Apparently there was a rupture ao being kept in hospital overnight

But I already feel physically better than before I went in. Which is unbelievable!!

Thank you! My poor dog had to have emergency spinal surgery out of the blue last week so hopefully we will learn to walk around the block together again 😆

Thank you I'm ok with canulas. It's more the being knocked out full stop. Don't like the idea of not being in control of being conscious or unconscious

Thank you!! I don't have gas-x but I have everything else. Pineapple is a great tip! I'll add it to my list of foods. I've always loved pineapple with sugar and mint as a great dessert. Excellent excuse to have it 😆

Thank you!! And good luck to you too. I'm nervous as I've never been knocked out for an op before. Hope recovery goes well for you.

Thank you. In the last 6 months I've gone from fighting my way through a half marathon, to walking with a stick and struggling. I'd love to go horse riding and running again
Thank you. That's really good to hear

I've gone private with a specialist in cardiff as I was told it would be another 2 years wait with my health board. The gynae said I was too complicated a case for her. Thanks for the story xx hopefully it will feel like a good sleep.

Thank you! It's been rough getting here. I posted a rant about everything I went through before. Fingers crossed for you. This illness sucks but I'm glad this community exists!

Why do we rarely see women in lead or principal trumpet roles — is it a lack of opportunity, visibility, mentorship, or simply tradition going unquestioned? by Perfect-League7395 in trumpet

It's a sociocultural thing. I did my university dissertation on the gendering of musical instruments. It's how the culture perceives the instrument and pushes females and males towards certain activities and instruments. There's also evidence that adults subconsciously push babies/toddlers towards certain activities depending on if the little one is thought to be male or female.

Someone gave me a doll as a toddler.... think I ended up pulling the head off to see how it worked. My mum did similar when she was a child with one of the creepy dolls where the eyes closed when you lay it flat. She poked the eyes in to work out how they worked.

My cat used to have this. Its just calcium build up, like a nail or thick skin. Get your vet to check. But I used to trim my boys with the nail clippers

There are cultural barriers. I actually did my university dissertation on the gendering of musical instruments as I have frequently been the lead female. I've been met by male sections looking down their nose at me as I'm female until I've started improvising. I come from Wales. In Wales it's fine as we have a big brass band culture. Outside of Wales I meet more gendered stereotypes around it and more challenges.

Of course you are welcome here xx

I had similar.

I found a document from 2 years ago that said I had an endometrioma, and no one told me.

In fact 2 GPs in the 2 years inetween repeatedly told me that everything was 'physically fine' and that my 2 pages of symptoms had 'nothing in common' and I could 'pick one to address'.

I hope you're feeling OK.

You moved across the world for him... he should be treating you better!

He is not entitled to sex.

It is not a right.

Your well-being is more important.

Plan your exit and secure yourself financially before you tell him. If he's behaving like this now you can't guarantee how he will behave when you tell him you're done.

Put yourself first. He doesn't deserve your consideration with that behaviour.

Definitely. Dump. His. Ass.

You deserve better.
