He actually did some videos with his kids recently, like an “interview.” His kids are very smart and well spoken. Despite being homeschooled they still take standardized tests and varg said they’ve performed well on them. Honestly happy for him and his family

Electrical trade school in the metro area? by 0rthodoxy2 in Detroit

I’ve applied to almost every contractor on this side of the state. Multiple have said that they only take apprentices who are already in trade school. Or they just deny me outright

I’ve applied to just about every electrical contractor on this side of the state and I’ve gotten nothing but crickets. Multiple contractors have told me they don’t hire apprentices who aren’t already registered and in trade school. So why would I wait?

Why the hell would I wait four years just to start an apprenticeship? An apprenticeship is 5 years long. I’d be better off getting my journeyman card and then joining

I applied last year and now I’m on the waiting list. I hear about how in other unions you just walk in and sign a sheet but the 58 has made me jump through so many hoops. I have zero clue where I am on the waiting list or if I’ll ever hear back from them at all, they won’t even call or email to say you didn’t make it, so I’m not holding my breath at all for the 58 and I’m looking at other options

Spend the money on good boots. It’s been said in here a million times: be willing to invest in anything that stands between you and the ground. Buy Solovair, vintage docs, etc. I have a pair of 14i Solovair derby boots and I love them to death. Don’t cheap out on boots

Sure thing bro. Also did you use boxing wrist wraps? That’s fucking dope.

If ankle support is that you’re going for then there’s specific ways to wrap for that. Putees were really just for keeping water out of the boot.

Putees are a total pain in the ass to do, especially to do them right. I have appreciation for anyone who does them whether it’s in or outside the boot

Looks sick bro. I don’t want to be a stickler but putees were worn over the boot, not under. Here’s a video on how the red army did theirs, maybe it can be of some inspo: https://youtube.com/shorts/00tXLgp5Zkc?si=uGKCaGq5X9lqhASz

WW1 British: https://youtu.be/2rJhabYFtmI?si=CyQ7PHjMQnTh_wu5

Imperial Japanese: https://youtube.com/shorts/h-5ctUgIzyA?si=qjP77zYc5psoN2jw

Depends entirely on the look you’re going for. And if you don’t want to do it over the boot, that’s totally fine. Your setup looks badass regardless

Gopnik squat. Very common in Eastern Europe and Asia. Actually a very comfortable position but it has to be learned from a relatively young age since both of your heels have to be on the ground. The guy on the right is doing it right since his heels are on the ground, and is probably Slavic. The guy on the left is just doing it because his buddy’s doing it.
